We will be spending the morning and early afternoon in Manchester then getting the direct train from Piccadilly to Stoke on Trent. There are usually buses that will ferry fans to the ground and back to the station after. I think Keele Student Union opens up for fans which is near the station.
Some good pubs in my old university town of Alsager for those who like real ale. The Lodge and Mere Inn are two such establishments. You can also jump on the train here for the short journey.

Last time I was in there the ‘generous’ police kept us in, put busses on which was mandatory and charged us for the privilege

I’ve done it twice on the bus coming back to the station but don’t think I’ve ever had to pay. I might be wrong though!

It is cheap isn’t it! We’ve paid £7.25 with a railcard and small TrainPal discount. £4 for the X43 and a return trip to Stoke totals £11.25.
Struggle to get from Cliviger to Burnley centre and back in a taxi for that.

If you get the train there’s a 99.9% chance you’re getting stuck in the student union bar then paying a 5er for the privilege of a bus to the ground and back.

Got a decent spot around 5 mins walk away from away end last time. It was an office car park they were flogging on.

Check that this time, away fans have moved to same end but opposite corner, not sure what's behind there now.

Tbf that student union was ridiculously cheap and from memory had pool tables, so it wasn't the end of the world. Think I paid a less than a fiver for 3 bottles of Brooklyn.

There is a pub across the road from the student bar which is a better option if drinking round the station, think it is called The Terrace.
We got in early one season on the train and got put in the student bar as the pub hadn't opened yet and the smell was very much like you would expect a student bar to smell like, it was only missing piles of sawdust to cover the sick from the night before.

By Car
The bet365 Stadium is a five-minute drive away from Junction 15 of the M6 for those travelling from the north or south and is also the last turn off on the A50 when heading from the east. You can also reach it from the west via the A500 at junction 16 of the M6. Once near the ground, simply follow the signs.
By Bus or Coach
The number ‘20’ bus service runs from Stand N at the Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Bus Station in Hanley to the bet365 Stadium, via Stoke-on-Trent Railway Station and Stoke town centre. For more information visit stokebus.info. National Express also operates coach services to the City Centre Bus Station.
By Foot or Bicycle
The bet365 Stadium is a two-mile, 40-minute walk away from Stoke town centre. It is accessible from nearby the Stoke-on-Trent Railway Station, by joining the National Cycle Route 5 path from Wharf Place off Glebe Street and heading South along the Trent & Mersey Canal.
Coach Parking
Coaches are directed to park and drop off away supporters at the back of The Caldwell Construction Stand near to the Visiting Supporters turnstiles. They remain there until departure after the final whistle.
By Plane
Stoke-on-Trent’s central position in England means several major airports are within easy reach. Manchester International Airport, Birmingham International Airport, Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport and East Midlands Airport are all around an hour away from the city.
By Train
Stoke-on-Trent Railway Station is situated on the West Coast Main Line and provides direct access from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Derby and Crewe. The station offers a bar owned by Titanic Brewery, a local brewery, Bureau de Change, ATM machine and two coffee shops, along with toilet and Wi-Fi facilities.
Please note: Away supporters are often met by the police at the railway station and taken to Staffordshire University or a pub near to it for refreshments. They are then shuttle bussed up to the bet365 Stadium. After the game, there are buses that return away fans to the railway station.
Taxi from the railway station
A taxi rank is accessible from Platform 1 or by exiting the station at the main entrance and turning left.
Parking
Car parks at the bet365 Stadium open from two hours before kick-off on a matchday. The North West 1 and West 2 car parks are limited to vehicles with seasonal parking permits only. Pre-paid match-by-match passes for the Club’s South Car Park can be brought directly from Stoke City's Ticket Office, either in person or by calling 01782 367 599. At present, these are not available online.
Pay on arrival parking
Several of the surrounding businesses also offer officially recognised pay-on-the-day parking. These include the Power league 5-a-side football centre, Hem Heath Cricket Club, Longton Rugby Club and BFM Europe.
Disabled parking
Disabled supporters with valid ‘blue badge’ parking permits are recommended to liaise with on-site stewards who will help facilitate the best available spaces.

A few of the businesses around the ground have parking. The Rugby club has a large car park it's about £5.Away fans can drink in their clubhouse - it's about a 15 minute walk. You can also park at the Poweleague and away fans can drink in there too. It's about 5 minutes walk.
