I doubt it.

They’ve spent a fair bit by their standards and they’ve struggled this season.

You’d have thought he might have a bit of credit
left in the bank though.

Bit of a Dyche like sacking this one. Been there for almost a decade, rescued them from the lower leagues, FA cup semi final, Champ play off final, developed some talent which sold for big £, new owners… but it’s all gone a bit stale this season it seems, whether that’s on him or their recruitment. Can see many Cov fans not being best pleased though.

This one has surprised me to be honest - kept losing his best players, not sure what anyone would expect.

Only Simon Weaver & Pep had been in their jobs longer.

At one stage a lot of supporters wanted him here, don't think he'll be out of work to long.

Had they beat Derby last night it would have been 3 wins and a draw from last 4 games

Bit of a surprise this given his tenure there. Fans and new owners alike can be a little strange though, and/or impatient .

They were the 6th biggest spenders in the division this summer and didn’t sell anyone, but lose O’Hare on a free.

You’re right tho - they’ve lost some excellent players over the past two years. The issue appears to be that they didn’t replace them particularly well. Something we look to be replicating.

Hamer & Gyökeres last summer and then O'Hare this summer. You can't keep losing players like that although I hadn't realised they'd spent quite so much.

Actually Coventry were the second biggest spenders in the Championship last season too.

They spend €55m over the last two seasons and recouped €42m if Transfermarkt is to believed. Biggest spend was in the summer of 2023. Shelled out over €30m after Hamer and Gyokeres had gone.

Yeah, they've spent quite a bit. Sometimes things can go stale and maybe there are other factors at play - maybe some of the more senior players are unhappy, who knows. Seems a harsh one, but they are seventeenth and, amazingly, level on points with Plymouth who are in the relegation zone.

I'd no idea they'd spent money like that to be honest

Lampard incoming, just started to see him on tv again, which is always a sign that someone is ready to get back into management.

Robins did a great job there.

If they do appoint Lampard, I’ll be interested to see how he gets on seeing as he would’ve been my choice to come here.

Spent an absolute fortune and gone backwards.

Robins is a very limited manager, never really achieved anything at this level.

For whatever reason this is the 3rd consecutive season that Coventry have started slowly and I would still expect them to finish in the top six. In Haji Wright they have a player who knows where the back of the net is and he will have a decent squad to work with.

Victim of his own success.

Did a great job with all the issues at Cov with the stadium etc to get them from League Two back to the Championship then after the past couple of years of Championship play off final and an FA Cup Semi Final fans and owners will begin to expect that success every season and not appreciate it was not the norm (especially when selling their best players).

Two promotions in 3 seasons including the League One title followed by steady improvement in the Championship eventually getting them in the playoffs and then getting them to an FA Cup Semi-Final and being a penalty shootout away from the final. Id say thats a pretty successful 7 years

Two promotions. The FL Trophy. A Championship play-off final. An FA Cup semi final. A lot of which is was against the backdrop of chaos in the boardroom and not having a ground.

I’m not sure there’s been many EFL managers have as many good seasons as he has in that spell.

Winning the EFL Trophy at Wembley
Promotion from League 2
Winning League 1 title
Championship play off final at Wembley and keeping them in the division for 5 years
FA Cup semi finalists

Reminds me of the 'what did the Romans ever do for us'sketch from Life of Brian......

If Bradford in the next 7 years got promoted from League Two, won League One and EFL trophy, got established in Championship and got to play off final as well as an FA Cup Semi Final you wouldn't call that success?

Aye for sure.. it’s not like he’s spent £100m+ buying a new team of no hopers to get smashed every week is it.

As you all say he’s been successful in the lower leagues. But ultimately owners see success in championship as promotion to the premier league. Still think it’s crazy as they keep selling his best players

1 won 101 points in his only season at this level, the other has just been sacked by Coventry and never been promoted from this division in like 7 attempts.

He was better when Coventry were underdogs. He set them up well against the better teams. Struggled when they were favourites as they had to play teams that did what they used to.

Very harsh decision. Still got one of the lowest wage bills in the division, I doubt anyone else will take them higher than midtable.
