Brian saved us from the abyss but it was Mullen who really started our climb back to the top flight, flirting with the now championship for a season. Really sorry he has never agreed/asked to come back as a guest for H/T

Presided over some of the best times as a follower of our great club I ever had, as we fought our way back from the near-disaster of 1987.
Wonderful times.
Happy birthday Jimmy.

Pound for pound, that 91-92 championship winning season was one of the best seasons I've enjoyed.
Happy Birthday.

Legend. My first full season was that title winning season. My high expectations have Jimmy to blame lol. Carlisle away (we should have won it there) and the Play off final are up there with the best memories of my life .

some truly great, never to be repeated times (given how football has changed since) following the Clarets in those years, especially considering the very dark place we were just a few years before
Happy birthday Jimmy
you will always be remembered

The start of our climb out of the 4th division after 7 long years began with the appointment of Jimmy Mullen. And a first victory at Wembley stadium came under JImmy to get us into the second tier. Sadly it went downhill from there but the foundations for the decades to come were in place.
I'll raise a glass to Jimmy.

The days of going on the Turf not worried about the score, just wondering how many we’d win by.

I`ve been going on the turf since the early 60`s but I have to say that the seasons certainly the two promotion seasons under JM were two of the best and the 4th division winning season was just special, have a good birthday Jimmy and thanks for some of the best claret memories

The journey down to the basement division is no fun but getting out of it is as good as any other promotion.

Started going on regularly when Casper was in charge and would confidently say Mullen is in my top 3 Burnley managers in my lifetime
1 Coyle
=2 Dyche
=2 Mullen
4 Ternent
=5 Howe / Kompany

Happy Birthday Jimmy Mullen hope you have a great day.
As others have said the start of the long climb back started when he was appointed. Right man in the right place at the right time, such a joy to watch his winning teams - and then there will always be THAT game at Derby's Baseball Ground in the F A Cup.
Great memories. "They came to York in their thousands they're going home as Champions"

Absolutely, but that came on the back of a decent spell in the Premier League and a couple of very good Championship seasons that were almost like processions to promotion.
91/92 came after some utterly dreadful seasons in Division Four where it looked for all money like we'd settled as a club for just staying in the League.

That chant created one of football's outstanding fan moments.
Versus Derby. I am proud to have been part of the half a match plus about twenty minutes continued chant!
Thanks and Happy birthday Jimmy Mullen. Happy birthday Jimmy Mullen Happy birthday Jimmy Mullen!

Still my favourite time as a fan, probably as much to do with my age but everything was a lot less glossy, shall we say. Some horrible goalkeeping, defending, passing etc but rarely dull. And some great entertainers along the way, my favourite being Tedd McMinn. Mullen did a brilliant job, just a division too far. Still remember our first home game once promoted against Stoke where they equalised in the 100th minute.
So much less football on TV too, so it felt genuinely special turning up to watch a game of footy.

Ah, the division 4 championship goes down as one of the best supporting the Clarets. Having only hopped on board at the start of the 87/88 season I'd seen only struggles. In stepped JM and provided the season I didn't think was possible. I think I know the Championship video word for word.
Happy birthday Jimmy Mullen and thank you!

Places like Darlington, Torquay…………tho in truth football probably wasn’t the greatest but blooming’eck they were fab days out where I think we generally outnumbered the home fans by far and um bah bahd our way around the country………let alone Derby and York…..
Happy Birthday JM……

Was at Wembley… Jimmy Mullen’s beer drinking, arse kicking, curry eating, Stockport beating, Blackburn hating, fornicating, all singing, all dancing, claret and blue army.
We’ve had some decent seasons since the 4th division championship but you’d struggle to pick an all round better one.

The 91/92 season coincided with the last year of my three years living in Tokyo so I only managed a paltry one game at the Turf and two away ones, the 5-2 embarrassment at Blackpool included. Happy 72nd, Jimmy.
