Thought he was quite impressive overall albeit got away with his dropped catch in the box. Passing was very good I felt.

No it isn't.

He played well though.

Got away with a howler when he dropped the ball in his box but otherwise looked pretty solid with good distribution.

Maybe he should've been playing for us last season? Looked really good, some cracking saves and decent distribution.

He was the last line and certainly kept us at bay from scoring through open play. Looked good, and if that's his usual standard the fans must be very happy with him.

Don't think he'd have done any worse than Trafford or Muric last season.

I acknowledge he will have played more long passes and stats should be used to support a subjective view, rather than form a view, but his pass completion was 61.7% against Trafford's 83.3%.

As I say he played well, but don't see that it should be used against Trafford.

Can you not read. I clearly referenced the he played more long balls and I was using the stats to support a view that his kicking wasn't miles better, rather than saying I was using the stats to form my view.

Again, it's hard to quantify who's winning the duels in the air, or is the 'long ball' more of a clearance or sent to a 50/50 or whatever.

Yep, they hoofed it a bit when we pressed them and Vigouroux put one into touch, but definitely released their wingers on a few occasions in our half on the counter.

Yeah and that's fair, crossed wires a bit here - I didn't mean you were trying to suggest Traff's was better/worse because of the stats, I was just trying to quantify them.

We have today realised and seen he is a very good keeper-kept the score down to 1-0. He deserves to be playing first team football, and hope he has a good season with Swansea

I posted on another thread, but the waiting is intentional. The plan is to wait for the opposition to make a move towards the keeper before passing it, to create the space behind. It's what a lot of top passing sides do.

I get it - but how often has a forward pressed him? He stands over it and then knocks it to Steve or ER - just speed it up and get us moving.

I’m also not talking exclusively when the ball is live. He takes an age to get us going again for offsides or free kicks, slows the tempo, must be under instruction but it’s stifling the pace of our play.

Looked solid enough and thought his distribution was impressive.

I think the "better than" is used when it should be played with more tempo and had better options than Trafford.

Picked out the Right back -Key several times in the first half when Luca went central to block a passing lane hit it flat and with pace and got them on the front foot.

Trafford simply does not have an out ball like that as our full backs do not venture like that in the build-up.

I did like how initially Koleosho walked from the dug out at the end of the game to give him a pat on the back followed by a few others including Estevel, Jay Rod and Brownhill. A nice touch

Clearly a popular lad in the dressing room during his time here - every claret to a man who was here last season went pretty much straight to him after the game and congratulated / commiserated with him. He had a good game

That's just pure lies tho, someone's posted the stats above, Trafford was night and day the more effective. Some people just still to have a downer on Trafford when it's clear he's a top keeper.

I don't think that's his choice, necessarily. It's clearly a tactic to draw their forwards in before playing the ball. Not saying I like it, but Trafford does it so intentionally I can only think it's instructed of him.

As for comparisons, hard to judge off one game. I think Trafford's distribution has improved, he's clearly worked on it. His shot stopping never in question, and despite the odd moment he's more commanding too. If a team lets in as few goals as we do, credit has to go to the GK as well as the defenders. Finally, one player has just turned 22, and the other is 31 next month. Vigouroux played well yesterday, and credit to him, but it's one game in which he would be desperate to impress. Happy with our keeper.
