Best to come out with stuff like that when you have retired from officiating, otherwise people might think you haven't got the brains you were born with.

he's been suspended with immediate effect - just a reminder players call refs **** and ***** every single week with zero punishment

He's absolutely spot on with his comments. Klopp is a very nasty, cowardly piece of work.
Ban him for a week or two and then move on. The punishment should be much the same as for a player or manager found to be using foul and abusive language towards officials.

Only in theory. In practice, if a ref applied the rules about foul and abusive language (and abandoned a game as a result due to shortage of players) the FA/PL wouldn't back him at all.

Not sure he’s said too much wrong really. It’s obviously brainless to be making these comments on a video in the first place but he’s only saying about Klopp what everyone else thinks, and it’s behind closed doors (or at least it was).

thing is if the video said "Klopp is a really nice guy, I always found him polite and Liverpool are a great side" then nobody would say "he's supposed to be neutral"
Coote was foolish to do the video but he shouldn't lose his job for saying what he believes. Cancel culture is dreadful

Think that's the game that Coote is annoyed about, when Dyche told Klopp to 'get lost' when marching down the tunnel.

Robertson didn't say much wrong. He may have swore but, as we were told on a referee's course, that is 'industrial language'. If he'd called Coote names by using swear words that would be different. That would be 'foul and abusive language'. He didn't.

I believe he described Klopp as "German". When accompanies by insults, won't that qualify for excess penalties as being racist?

For being daft enough to be deliberately filmed expressing his opinions then he gets what he deserved.
I thought it was going to be a hidden-camera type job. He’s been stitched up properly by his “mate” but what a plonker.

It’s just odd. Do get saying stuff like this conversationally amongst friends probably happens a lot. However in his position why say that on camera?? It’s just so ill advised and he’s basically committed career suicide on something so daft.
If whoever had released that is a friend of his, my god, he needs to look at the company he keeps.
Actually feel a bit sorry for someone who is going to lose their job and name be completely dragged for the mud over something so petty.

He is one of the worst officials since Moss retired. He was really bad last Dyche season first game against Brighton.
Hes got better recently but still a poor ref.
Really silly saying all this on a video, was always going to bite him on the arse.

Coote makes the allegation that Klopp said he lied, id like to know in what context and what action was taken against Klopp.
Also Coote didnt get another game for 3 years. Why was that? Is this another situation where a big club have influenced appointments?
He got the penalty claim by Liverpool right so why was it so long before he got a game.
Klopp and Robertson behaved like tired toddlers at the final whistle!

Let’s face it, the real issue in that match wasn’t the referee, it was that the mighty Liverpool hadn’t beat little old Burnley. That was what was gnawing at Robertson and Klopp. We saw countless managers of ‘big’ clubs lose it over the years when they’ve failed to beat us, always the referee’s fault, never because we were a good team, never because the ‘big’ team had underperformed. Klopp has always been good at deflecting attention away from his own, and his team’s, inadequacies.

Didn't say much wrong? This is just the bit you can work out on the TV.
"How's that not a penalty is a disgrace. How the **** is that not a penalty? You didn't see ****ing anything? You didn't see anything the whole game, apart from booking them in the last minute. **** me! What's the point of having you in the middle? What's the point in having you? **** me!"
God knows how they were speaking to him in the tunnel. The fact he doesn't have a go at Robertson suggests that Klopp was far worse.
Coote is an idiot for being filmed. He's been sold out by his so-called friends. He's bang on with his comments though. Would you want to work with anyone showing you such little respect?

Lost all respect for Coote when he caved into Oliver on VAR and gave that ludicrous penalty to West Ham the other week when Danny Ings fell into De Ligt. Having said that , and recognising that this video is pathetic and he has been unbelievably stupid, it’s daft to believe that refs won’t dislike certain managers and characters within the game. As long as they leave that behind when they referee games does it matter ? He ref’d a Liverpool win just this last weekend.

Clearly Robertson was angry and that is understandable. You have to make reasonable allowances for heat of the moment stuff. Nothing he said in your quote is really abusive (possibly 'what's the point in having you?, which is OK by me). If Robertson had said to Coote 'you are a f.....g useless. w.....r' then that is foul AND abusive.

If someone (your boss or a colleague) approached you in your workplace and said that to you, wouldn't you think it was abusive? An industrial tribunal surely would.

Of all the clubs, managers and fan bases to slag off he has chosen the ones who will make sure this clumsy observation have legs and it will go on and on and on. It'll end up in parliament and no doubt no win no fee Merseyside solicitors will be looking at it for distress claims.

Yes of course, in general, but the circumstances are different. Passions are high. Surely a football fan can understand that. If you cautioned a player every time he said 'f..k' there would be no-one left on the pitch.

If any rugby player (league or union) said that to the ref, he would be off like a shot and with a several week ban. Are passions not high in rugby?
Besides, that wasn't my point. No doubt passions were high, but that doesn't mean telling any person that he is a waste of space and useless at his job, is not abusive.

Not the first time Coote has been suspended but this should be the last time. Surely he will not referee again after this.
Whatever his view on Klopp, and I have to say it doesn’t seem too far from mine or Sean Dyche’s, but he’s supposed to be and required to be above all that. He’ll never be trusted by clubs, managers or players ever again.
