Well I might not have saved it but I’d have gone the right way. Another that points his standing toe where it’s going.
Get in Jay.

I remember that penalty at Forest that Jay Rod missed, I was there. It was a night match, but his miss didn't matter......we won anyway.

Second was a brilliant header. A big following that night due to it being £10 a ticket.

He responded very well to the penalty miss at Forest with another goal if memory serves me right.
Only watching from the box yesterday, I was so relieved when the ref pointed to the spot and even more so when Brownhill handed the ball to Jay Rod. If there was any player in yesterday’s squad that you’d trust with 94th penalty it was Jay Rod.

Forest fans were singing ‘we want our tenners back’ that night. Jay Rod was effortlessly superior to anyone else on the pitch that game

I’m sure that was the first time I ever heard our fans sing ‘Is there a fire drill?”
Forest fans gave Jay some stick from the spot so he responded with another goal.
I remember the Forest manager heaping praise on Jay after the game. Mind you it was Steve Cotterill.

In this imaginary scenario are you able to freeze time?

It’s something I heard about in about 1970. John Radford the Arsenal CF used to go in the nets for pen practise and save many he eventually let on how. You obviously can't if they leather it but how many now stroll up to the ball and wait for the keeper to dive? No pace in the run up gives modern keepers every chance.

Think everyone does this… it’s having the patience to wait to see it and then the speed to react. Maybe Grezza was the exception to the rule, not entirely sure HE knew where he was putting it.

And if there was any player in that squad that you WOULDN'T trust with a 94th minute penalty, it would be Brownhill. Dont think I’ve ever seen a worse striker of a dead ball than him. Hits a moving ball well enough to be fair to him….

Brownhill was never going to be taking the penalty whilst Jay was on the pitch.

He’d have taken it had Jay not come on.

I enjoyed the game. I thought we went about things positively and all that was missing was, to some extent a bit more creativity, but mostly finishing.
Both the last two performances, against some of the better - but not the best - teams have been improved and it's reasonable to expect further improvement.
I'm more optimistic then I was after Millwall and the games before.
