A free agent and still only 32, worth a short term deal ?
Got to be better than what we have.

How do you know he’ll be better than what we have?
Have you ever seen him play?

Do other teams' fans have this weird obsession with getting their previous players back?

Was very much under appreciated by a lot of supporters in my opinion.

Yeah I think so, nostalgia is a powerful thing.
As for Jeff, it's a bit like Andre Gray, both were useful at their physical peak because they were built for Premier League football. But not the sort to fall back on their cultured football as they start to slow.

He did well for us overall and I think that's because he was in a very good team at the time. I felt George Boyd was in a similar position in that he was a cog in a very, very well drilled and well oiled machine and as such was able to be pretty important and effective. Hendrick has done the square root of nothing since leaving us and I feel that kind of illustrates my point. George Boyd same.

Better than Brownhill, Laurent, Cullen, Hannibal, Ramsey etc… ?
Quite literally the worst shout ever (past it when he went down with Reading 2 years ago)

Haven't heard how he was playing lately, tbh, but I suspect there might be a
reason why he's still "a free agent".

Theres a subtle difference between a fine aging French wine and an ageing journeyman footballer. Thats why our discerning fans love a fine claret

I like Jeff especially after his goal finishing off a 20+ pass move at Goodison
But that ship has sailed.

Was talking about him with my son yesterday. Said I thought he was still without a club. You have to ask why that is when he's still only 32.

If you rate him that highly, you'd think you could spell his name properly.
No chance of getting Woods back though.

No, but I am surprised he hasn't found a club yet. Surely still good enough to do a job for a bottom half Championship team.

His best attribute as i remember was when we lumped the ball in the channels under SD it was invariably recycled back towards the halfway line by the defender heading clear - Jeff had a knack of being in the right place to pick up those loose balls and regain possession
We don't play like that any more
No thanks

The thread title alone is enough of a reason why we shouldn’t go back after him, or Chris Woods for that matter

It’s a really weird thing with our fans. As it happens, I rated Hendrick a lot higher than a lot of Burnley fans did but I wouldn’t be wanting him back over four years on.

I remember that harsh sending off early in the game at Watford ... A rash challenge but more "thud and blunder" than "blood and thunder"

I’m another who rated JH and his contribution to our successes over his time at Burnley. However he is no way shape or form better than any of Cullen, Brownhill, Laurent, Hannibal, Ramsey or Massengo anymore, hence why he has struggled and is struggling to find a club.

Can’t get into a Bolton side that lost 5-0 to Stockport this weekend.
I love Scotty but another one that’s no where near this midfield

In fairness, I think that decision was fair, but Watford should have been down to ten by half time and weren’t.

The Bolton fans really do not like or rate him.
A friend of mine is a season ticket holder at BW and hes sent me through a few of their fans comments about Super Scotty, not complimentary on anyway.

Funny how the 2 best mates Brady and Hendrick careers turned about.
Hendrick played regularly. Brady injured. Both leave.
Brady recovers and returns to Ireland team. Hendrick goes to Newcastle and drops like a stone.

I predicted Jeff would be back in the champ soon after leaving us, never good enough
Seems like I was right

He played an important role in a very drilled team. He worked hard and had some moments of quality - goals vs Bournemouth and Chelsea spring to mind. He played 34 times in the season we finished 7th and played in Europe so he can't have been that bad! He also moved to Newcastle so his stock was high when he left us. His career has dropped off since he left and I wouldn't take him back now, but he's very under rated by many.

Apart for the instrumental role he had in the team that came 7th?
He’s had a great career and will be financially secure for the rest of his life. Looks to be enjoying quality time with his partner and kids going off his social media and loving life. Good luck to him.

Playing regularly in the PL in a team that are unlikely to go down, so I would say so, yes.

I'd say it's an obvious yes to be fair. As thick as this board is, I bet the majority will agree he's doing better now at Everton than us in the Championship.
