I know we have been spoilt in recent times playing the "big" teams.

I'm a day late, so apologies but one of the best nights many Clarets had upto that point especially those who started watching in the mid 70's onwards happened at Chelsea on 12/11/2008.

The emotion on that night and the days following was amazing it almost became normal as we then knocked out the Arsenal kids and gave Spurs the fright of their lives in the semi.

Although it all went down hill afterwards, that season 2008-09 was one of the best.

The best away trip I’ve ever had. Birthday struck at 12 midnight on the way back. Was a great feeling

Was a great day and evening! 3 of our coaches set off early and dropped off at Hyde Park late morning.

My first ever away trip... Not a bad one to start with. As someone who isn't able to go to many games, I was very lucky that the games that i picked that season were Arsenal home and away, Spurs home and away, Chelsea away, Bristol City (last home game of the season) Reading away (play-offs) and the final.

Couldn't have picked better, even in hindsight.

Someone started a campaign for Burnley fans to wear flat caps for the fixture, as Londoners thought we all wore them with our whippets.

I wasn't expecting thousands of them on arrival in the capital.

And has it happens, Chelsea fans wear them nowadays as a fashion statement.

Incredible support that evening. I know it's a cliche but we went through the whole array of emotions; fear, excitement, anticipation and sheer elation.
Wade's inexplicable penalty miss, Duffo's hit and hope and then Beast's magnificent save to win it.
Privileged to be there and experience what happened.

Tickets a tenner each
Got a an Easy Bus (or whatever it was) for about £12 each return from Scotch corner
Got a cheap and cheerful hotel near Victoria (one of them where the bog and shower are the same space things) for about £45 - We weren't in it that long to care.

Few beers on the Thames with a few off CM if I remembe right?

The match itself was incredible. That's entertainment!

A certain chap called 'Leisure' on this forum posts regularly about the Accy Clarets and their superbly organised travel (including beer stops).

That day at Chelsea was a long one. I seemed to recall a pick up around 6:30am from the Stanley Club in Accrington. We quickly became the advanced party with another 7 coaches following a few hours behind.

We alighted at a tube station around 10:30am. Our group consisted of about 40 members, many who had little experience of the outside of their house ,/ Bargain Booze.

Cutting our losses.my mate and I fled from the tube station at Kings Cross to have a couple in a nearby pub and meet up with a few mates.

We did, however, witness some of our original party becoming arrested for various ridiculous stuff including sitting down on a dropped kerb and being laid horizontal in a public space.

Chelsea fans were impressed with our noise coming from the Shed End.

Drogba is a man to hate but we gave him too much room and he can finish.

I was anticipating Chelsea to pile on the pressure but it never really arrived.

Then it blooding happened !

Eagles hit a left footed shot which was only pushed into the path of Akinbyi who calmly slotted in the corner of the net in front of the away support.

Cue mayhem amongst 6,5000 at the Shed End. Nobody expected us to win but having that moment will always stay in my memory forever

We did a good job taking it to penalties, the best from Alexander who is a penalty king (an unusual method behind the usual practices)

Kevin McDonald took a perfect spot kick and immediately left the stadium for the nearest Irish League Club.

Jenson did the rest and I lost the limited human faculties I had left. Swept on a tide of emotion I made a coach on which I definitely didn't arrive on.

I immediately took on the coach sleeping position which is to rest the forehead on the back of the seat in front. Whilst this can be a useful tool on your way to work after a few too many beers the night before, it must be noted that prolonged use of this technique over a period of hours can result in catastrophic injuries.

I held out until I was turfed off the coach near the Hapton Inn at daybreak.

I was lucky having only received minor 'carpet burns'.to my forehead and I eventually located my house around 72 hours later.

It was the start of probably the most exciting 12 months I’ve ever had as a claret. Many of the most memorable games I’ve been to are in that 12 month period.

I was talking to a fellow Claret in the White Horse in Parsons Green before the game, my hope was that we had a goal to celebrate and avoided being humiliated by a Chelsea side who were at the top of their game in 2008. I think my hopes were realised!

We went on coaches from The Turf, where Sky to were waiting to see us off. They got on the coach with a camera asking for the usual naff everyone to cheer and wave scarves etc, but they were basically told to sod off by parents as kids ducked down so as not to be filmed given lots had simply called in to say their child was sick and would be out of school!

A brilliant evening…….

I can remember travelling a few thousand miles for that match. Wonderful atmosphere in the lower section of the "Shed" when Ade equalised. Didn't get home until it was getting light after dropping my son off in Manchester and my daughter in Warrington. Great memories

I’ve been watching Burnley for a long long time, but that view back of the lined up coaches was very memorable.
