Clearly we have the best keeper in the league.
Do you think we can keep him regardless of whether we go up or stay down.
What would be a fair price currently? £30m?

Plenty would say he's the 2nd best after Michael Cooper, they are both very good.

No, but i have watched his career. Made in Devon, got to be good

I wouldn't, Cooper is limited with his feet and in the modern game I assume that's why he has been overlooked internationally.
He actually reminds me of Marlon Beresford, great shot stopper but not confident in his distribution.

Both have a bit of a weakness, if anything would hold back Trafford's chances at the highest level it will be crosses.
He and Cooper are both very good shot-stoppers

I don't know enough about any of the other keepers in this league to agree or disagree as to wether JT is the best but he's certainly done very well so far.
Made a great one on one save today, his distribution has improved and generally he just looks a far more confident and competent young keeper than the one that was thrown in at the deep end and then hung out to dry last season (albeit in a lower division now)

Do we though? He’s hardly been tested with how good the defence has been. His stock is on the rise again though that’s for sure.
I honestly think if we get a big offer such as 30 mil that we should cash in. If and a big if, we go up again and he struggles, that value will decrease again and also, if we stay down, we will need to cash in.

Spot on. He doesn't muscle those opposition players that stand in front of him from corners etc enough for me. He’s a tall lad and needs to use his body more. He’s a good keeper but if this season we go up I can’t see him staying.

9 clean sheets and improving game on game £40m or he stays where he is
If it's money bags Newcastle then its £35m and Nick Pope.

His stats are really good but as I said earlier he’s not had loads to do. That’s not his fault, he’s part of a solid back 5. I’d be interested to see how he gets on though if we were conceding a lot more chances. My initial comment wasn’t slating him, I just don’t think we should get carried away calling him the best GK in the league when on average he makes 1.73 saves per game.

He's doing alright at a level he should have been playing last season.
His confidence will be back and he gets just enough work to do.
The keeper at Stoke, bought from Rotherham looks way ahead of everyone I have seen so far. But he does get more chance to impress with more shots against him.

Pope IMO was better than Heaton. I certainly think Trafford can become better than Pope but he’s nowhere near at the moment. Ball at his feet yeah but not as an all round GK.

He should be worth £20-25m , maybe even 30 with his age, though he’s not really had a “breakout season “ yet . Though quite how much Man City have as his sell on clause ? Alan will 100% want the cash .He’s a child prodigy keeper and was training with Eng a good couple of yrs before he played as a youth for Eng u16/17 maybe . City watched him as a kid for a yr I’d say at Carlisle . Great to see him building confidence and improving . Many Burnley fans and all the “ expert keeper coaches “ on here may well look on with envy as he progresses .
Hladky is a very decent keeper so ultimately we’ll be fine.

Trafford certainly has the potential , though whether he’ll reach Heaton’s all round mastery is anyone’s guess .

He’s on 9 now from 16. We’re on 10 as Hladky got one.
Incredible stuff.
But let’s be honest in the premier league he’d have conceded 3 today. He’s getting clean sheets because the opposition are crap in front of goal. He wasn’t a bad keeper last year and he hasn’t suddenly become a great keeper this year.

That is an impossible comparison. He's getting clean sheets because he stops most of the shots on target that he faces at the current level.

Agree, but doesn’t mean he’s any better than last year when fans were calling him ****e because he was facing great strikers who punished every mistake the team made.
He had high potential then and has high potential now but is still learning his trade as a young player.

Yes. You don’t think premier league strikers would’ve buried the 2/3 clear cut chances we gave away today?
(Obviously premier league midfields would also have dominated the midfield and created far more too, but I’m just taking about the 3 great goalscoring opportunities they had)

Keepers typically don't reach their peak till their late 20s even early 30s. To be where he is now is pretty special, in a top 6 champ side conceding next to no goals. He got thrown to the wolves last year but ultimately I think the experience will help him if we go back up. If we don't, I'm sure a Premier league side will take him, and probably one with aspirations of trophies.
Is he better than pope or Heaton in their prime right now? I'd say not. Does he have a higher ceiling? I'd say so. Neither of the other two commanded a regular place in the England team, and I think Trafford could possibly do that for a long time. We'll see.

One of the things it’s easy to forget about last season (we all have to cope somehow) is that even in matches where we were tonked 4 or 5 nil, Trafford often made 3 or 4 great saves in between the goals.
Glad he’s getting an honest chance to show us how well he can play this season.

I initially thought he was very slow off his line to stop the one on one but pulled off a great save none the less. Having a cracking season but the standard of attacking is very very poor in this league.

Christ on a bike.
Talk about a change of opinion! People, we’re slating him as awful, overrated, worst keeper we’ve had, not fit to lace Heaton and Popes boots and so on.
Simply, as I’ve always said, he will be Englands next number one. He will go to play at a top four team. That team will likely be Man City.
He was sent to us to help with FFP for City. He likely will go back to them at the end of the season as who else needs a GK in the top six.
