I was surprised to see them in the bottom three.

Panic button well and truly pressed.

Not confirmed yet but expected to be this evening.

Quite why they ever appointed Walter in the first place is beyond me.

They've had a turnover of players similar to ours but he's not looked like getting anything for quite a while.

I’m surprised they waited this long!

Hull 9th in the list of squad values (we are 1st) yet are 18th in the league. So that is significant underperformance.

(I am not a full fan of these squad values, e.g. they value Esteve at €9m so tend to have a lag, and they include wider squad / injured players, but they are still informative)

Mark Robins and Steve Cooper the early favourites.

Hi CrosspoolClarets,

I think you're quoting transfermarkt.

While it's an excellent site - I use it every day - it's one weakness IMHO is it's player values. The example of Maxime Estève is a fine case in point. I can only presume they think he's lost value because we were relegated. But then how come Trafford is valued at €18m?

Makes no sense.

However, I find the actual transfer fees paid they quote correlate with most players (based on reported fees as so few official fees are disclosed these days).

It was similar to our Dyche situation, fans loved him but accepted it was time for him to go.
They want Robins apparently.

We must be hearing different things, as I have a very good friend who supports Hull and he was not happy that they got rid of Rosenior, although he acknowledges they fell just short last season of what they should have achieved - playoffs.

If they can get Robins that will be a great appointment for them. Hopefully they will finish above (soon to be) Lampard's Coventry! :D

Agree and apologies, I meant to add a link in my earlier post.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/champio ... bewerb/GB2

I tend to be a fan of statistical error evening out with larger volumes, so over the whole squad I feel more confident these squad values are fairly representative (subject to the caveats I put in my above post). Individual players I am wary of as you suggest.

In the case of Hull, their fairly high value is due to having half a dozen young and promising players <=25 like the Turkish lad in midfield who have good potential. A bit like Sunderland the key to them seems like getting a manager who can get the best out of youth.

Hi CrosspoolClarets,

No need to apologise!

I think it's a fantastic site BUT its valuation process seems a bit odd. I presume people use them for video games.

The stats per player and team lineups are first class. That's why I use it.

I liked the way Walter was trying to play but they didn't seem to have the forwards to finish off.

He’s clueless. Was just the same at Hamburg as he was at Hull.
