It's all set up for a decent game.

Both sides had their moments, which they didn't convert into a match winning position.

Another series on BT so can't watch it but interesting that the Kiwi's haven't picked a proper spin bowler and Bashir has taken 4 wickets.

I think I heard them say that in all the tests played at Hagley Oval, only 2 wickets have gone to spinners. But I could’ve miss heard.

Bashir has done well then this innings. Of course we could be bowled out twice for 300 with 20 wickets going to pace I just never like the look of a test side without a proper spinner.

I am rarely right about cricket though :D

He once hit me for 5x6s and 1x4 in an over when I was 13. He was the overage player for Rammy U18s (overage player runs don’t count). Hope he felt good after that.

England go ahead of NZ, 340 for 5. Very good batting performance so far. Especially after losing Root so early.

Edit, sorry still 8 behind.

Hopefully 9, 10, J can hang around with Stokes and get up to that 100 lead.

Yes, and I have a question. When Williamson was out LBW…. plum. He reviewed, 100% of the ball was hitting the wickets… out! So why did NZ keep their review??

Harry Brook is now up to 6 in the all time batting averages, hit 32 sixes , what really surprised me about that table was Bradman only hit 6 sixes in his entire test batting career .

The style of play has changed since Bradman's day , plus the quality of the bat is so much better now .

Because where the ball hit him was umpires call on whether it hit him in line with off stump. We're lucky enough to be in Christchurch. Plenty of England fans here and a few Clarets. Bedtime now but I'll be up at 4am for the Stoke game!!

No I was 13 and played the game the way it should be played. Destroying a youth players confidence is great.

England in a bit of trouble early in the Second Test. 21 for 2.

Both openers go early.

Two fours down the ground then a wild swipe down the leg side does for Bethell.

43 for 4

Crawley hit a 6 down the ground in the first over, that can't happen very often.

First time it’s ever happened to a seam bowler apparently.

Chris Gayle is the only other batsman to hit a 6 in the first over of a test, dont know who the bowler was.

First ball of the game as well that one. Bangladesh opened with a spinner.

Female commentator said New Zealand have to restrict England to singles if they want a chance. Probably in the hope they get fed up, hit out and give their wicket away. Good luck with that!

Jacob Bethell looks like another exciting talent. The Brydon Carse pick has been a masterstroke too, really impressed with him in India and again here.

As well as the opposition last summer.

NZ 47 for 3 in reply to chasing 583.

Taking nothing away from England but NZ have been very poor. We've beaten them comfortably, effectively with 10 men, given Crawley's contribution. Root did nothing either until the 2nd test was effectively won.

New Zealand have bowled very well everytime I have been watching with movement and bounce, but there's not much you can do when batsman attack you like England have.

Well apart from take all your chances.

Some of the innings England players have played have been superb.
