2 seasons ago we set all sorts of records for offensive stats, possession, goal scored, even points... but this season has to be just as pleasing, setting records for different reasons; our defensive prowess and how we smother the opposition into submission, and winning at the same time. How much of a different feel to the season is it now, than 5 games ago and long may it continue. VK or SP, who cares... Loving this!

With you 100 per cent. We needed to show patience and give him time. Things really look to be clicking into place now. Solid at the back and starting to look slick going forwards. Ever since the no show at Millwall we've really kicked on.

A couple of attackers in in January (not to mention the quality we have coming back from long term injuires) and we are set poised for the charge to the end of the season.

Sarmiento has made a big difference, links the midfield and attack well, obviously credit to Scott he identified this and acted accordingly.

I said when we were linked to Sarmiento that I saw him playing on the number 10 and posters were saying there wasn’t any evidence to suggest he could play there but in the 3 games he’s started in the 10 we have looked much more threatening

It's not a coincidence that Jay has been starting the last 3 games whilst fully fit either. His legs may not be what they were but his football brain hasn't gone and there's plenty of runners around him

100% said after Bristol city, for 60-70 minutes even at 35 Jay is still one of the best strikers in the league, I do think Parker has got his subs bang on last two games

Brighton fans were saying he's a number 10 when he came to us and we can't have been alone as I thought he'd do well in the hole. I've been saying we needed to stick with the 3 of Koleosho, Sarmiento and Anthony and I don't see how any of them can be dropped.

Agree. There was a certain bell on here who questionned why Jay should be starting, just because he'd scored a penalty. Let's hope that shuts him up for the rest of the season.

We have nobody to fear in this division at all. You could be right but personally, I'd stick with them and take the game to them. You have those 3 and teams can't push too many forward due to the threat of the counter.

It will be interesting to see what Middlesbrough do on Friday. They have the attackers but might decide to sit back, like everyone else has, and hit on the break. I don't think that is natural to them though.

Interesting about the ‘no show’ at Millwall and how we have kicked on. Under VK the season wasn’t exactly going great until we got hammered at Sheff Utd. The rest was just amazing.

Sunderland away was the turning point for me that season.

Our display (I would have said performance but that would imply entertainment) at the Den was our real low point this season. No way other to describe it other than bad. Since then been getting progressively better and I think starting to look really sharp.

Jay has taken the Ash Barnes mantle as being an older striker leading by example..... Whilst Jay is far less of a ****house there are similarities to be seen.

I think it bodes well.

It's funny how we remember things differently, I thought that the sheff utd defeat was earlier in the season, but I think it was game 19, then we went on the winning streak. We are 1 point ahead of where we were 2 years ago.

I’d love to see Jay kick on and get into double figures but that might just be a bit too much to ask, but he’s a leader and that will count for a lot. The thing we can be sure of is he is a Claret to the bone and the effort will always be there. Things are looking very good. I have always been convinced that auto promotion is well within our capabilities and as I have been saying to a lot of people I think Sunderland will fall away and it looks like the rot might have set in. Leeds are annual failures at the last minute (long may that continue) which leaves mainly Sheff Utd, who I have a lot of time for and who are looking good to be fair. It seems odd that our paths have crossed so many times with regard to promotion and it looks like we are going to have another battle with them. Be good if we could repeat last seasons results against them but to be fair I can’t see it on current form.
