Word coming out Terry Griffiths has passed away today ... Sean Murphy just tweeted it.

Remember watching him beat Dennis Taylor at the Crucible 45 yrs ago on the TV.

RIP Terry Griffiths.

He was 77 and had been afflicted by that most horrible condition namely dementia. A painless end to life for the sufferer but so much pain inflicted on your loved ones watching it take everything except your body

He was great on commentary too - one of the few who actually gave some tactical understanding behind the shots and would 'map out' how players would play out the frame, in his ace Welsh accent. You can see why so many players employed him as a coach. RIP

Nonetheless, a nice guy in interviews and worthy world champion.

77 was no age and dementia a dreadful end to a sporting hero.

Sadly another person passes away after suffering from dementia.

RIP TG a classic era of snooker amongst doug mountyoy who I also fondly remember.

Saw him play at the Guild Hall, Preston, either late 70s or early 80s. Great player and a nice man. RIP.
