The " King " would have been 90, on January 8th next year ( a birthday he shared with David Bowie & Shirley Bassey ), and the BBC are marking the event with a vote ... you get two selections.
I've gone for " Suspicious Minds " and " If I can dream " ... what would your choices be ?

I love all the early Elvis music from 1955 to 1964ish, after that he became too mainstream for me. He was the voice of the 20th century in my opinion.

I understand that from April 21st 1956, when " Heartbreak Hotel " first topped the Billboard chart, Elvis was No.1 for 54 out of the next 104 weeks ( 2 years ). Only the Beatles have ever come close to matching that ..

Yes. Bob Dylan's quote " Hearing Elvis for the first time was like bursting out of Jail ! " also springs to mind ..

That's spot on, his early stuff was so brilliantly 'raw'. Colonel Tom Parker, his manager, then made Elvis Into little more than a money making machine. Some of his movies, particularly his later ones, were absolutely rubbish.

Iāve just realised, picking my fave two Elvis tracks is ridiculously hard. Had the OP asked for favourite ONE, no problem.
Just reading through this thread has me changing my mind on the second choice. My first choice will always remain I think, but the second will constantly change because of my mood.

But his live performance of unchanged melody when you could see he was struggling massively but still able to have the voice he did is amazing

When everything I do is wrong
You give me hope and consolation
You give me strength to carry on
And you're always there to lend a hand
In everything I do
That's the wonder
The wonder of you!

Heartbreak Hotel.
I visited Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi and Gracelands, Memphis, whilst touring the Southern States in August. The museum place next to Gracelands is something else; incredible amount of expensive cars, boats, motorbikes and planes.
