A difficult one because of so many variations available in midfield - Josh C would be my 'must', then it's one or two Josh B, Josh L and Hannibal. I think Josh B and Josh L. Sarmiento playing off Jay too.

Brownhill in for Laurent (harsh but JB is the skip and top scorer) and that’s it, for me.

As a separate issue on tonights game, how many times do you think we will hear the phrase "the unstoppable force meets the immovable object" in match build up and comms?

Scott Parker wearing him green top, with the arm stripes, should do it!

I think personally the last two places are whether we play Pires or Humphrys at left back, and whether we play three orthodox midfielders (and so play Laurent alongside Brownhill and Cullen) or play Sarmiento just behind Jay.

I agree that Brownhill comes back in as a matter of course and I'd probably be tempted to play Humphrys and Sarmiento.

Thought Humphreys was excellent in the second half against Stoke and to add to that he combined really well with Koleosho (who had a much better second half than his first half)

Sarmiento had an excellent game and in the first half in particular he was our main threat and the one player taking us forward at pace.

Only potential change for me would be Brownhill for Laurent not because Laurent has done much wrong but more because of the opposition and how they could set up.

At the moment we seem to have a few good options. Hannibal was playing well before missing out last week. Think SP has managed the rotation pretty well these last few weeks with so many games and having to manage game time for the likes of Jay with our limited forward options. Really hope we have lined up an early January signing for at least one forward as the last few weeks has shown how key it is to have someone like Jay who knows how to play the position.

Only change to this might be Jay to start instead of Fleming, and Hannibal for Laurent

The combination of three orthodox central midfielders and a left back who isn't especially forward thinking feels a mite defensive to me, but I can see the logic and it wouldn't be a massive surprise if this was the team.

Difficult choice at LB, whoever will be up against the dribbling fool Ben Doak. Not a choice I’d like to make but SP will make the correct one.
Otherwise unchanged for me. Last week was that good.

Parker will probably try not to lose this game before he tries to win it. Therefore, more defensive players like Humphreys, Laurent and Brownhill will more than likely play.

I think Humphreys is a good defender and it will take someone special to have the beating of him. I am surprised that earlier in the season we did not try Pires wide left midfield. As a full back Pires does wander a lot

I would like to see Flemming and Jay up front together in a two…. But the likelihood of Parker choosing to essentially play two up front are slim to none.

I'd be amazed if Humps doesn't start at left back tonight. We'll be going for a 1 0 win.

Or play Flemming as a 10, which is how he played at Millwall

For me thats the strongest team. With options on bench for later in game.

A strong team with Flemming playing in his strongest position. I have a feeling we'll see Laurent/Hannibal in instead of him though. Parker has a good record against top 6 teams in the championship. For that reason I'll back him in deciding whatever team he puts out.

Flemm has to play the no.10 role.

I am so frustrated every time I see him in the 9, he just isn't that player.

I don’t think Flemming is a no 10 in the sense of an attacking/creative midfielder, I think he’s a 10 in the sense of a second striker that drops slightly deeper. This would be essentially playing two up front.

Yep, 'The Bermondsey Bergkamp', as they called him in erm... Bermondsey.

Must admit I'd like to see a bit more of the Flemming/Rodriguez partnership. Well, I say a bit more of, they can't have spent that many minutes on the same pitch together could they?

I think we’ll know our general outlook from the LB selection:

Humphreys - we're worried about Doak

Pires - let them worry about us.

A cautious approach, given Boro's attacking ability:

Trafford,
Roberts, Egan-Riley, Esteve, Humphreys,
Brownhill, Cullen
Sarmiento, Hannibal, Anthony,
Rodriguez

I would like to see a front two of Rodriguez and Flemming at some stage tonight, but I don’t think it’s going to happen from the start. It’s a big game and we will have to be at our best, let’s just hope our continued improvement carries on. COYC

Dusty Miller was a half back when I first went on. Although Jimmy Adamson could switch between half back and centre half.
