Thought he was very good watched on TV
Tried to keep game flowing in awful playing conditions

Can’t vote but he made few mistakes. Thought he’d forgot his cards until Hannibal played silly devil in added time.

Didn’t need cards - there was not a bad foul all game and in the wet and windy conditions if he booked one he may have ended up with several bookings

Watched at home. Only gripe is he did nothing about the assault on Roberts - for me if he’s seen it, they should have been down to 10

Got progressively worse as the game went on.

I only saw I few minutes of the second half. He made a howler. Foul against Esteve when it was the other way. Could’ve been very costly.

I’m marking this on what I saw at the game. I thought he had a very reasonable game in the main, but I’m marking him down for the first rating, because I believe he missed a clear red card for a player raising their hands to Roberts.…Violent conduct.

I was the other side of the pitch but it looked to me like he had his hands round Roberts throat for a prolonged period? If that's so he should've gone.

If you miss a player holding another by the throat for a number of seconds after which he tries to kick him in the nuts - you don’t deserve a rating

That’s exactly what he did, and pushed on the back of Connor’s neck. It was violent

Fall over = free kick

He’ll score highly with his assessors.

Excellent, however if I were to mark him on extra time it would be a lot less, a hell of a lot less. There was 6 minutes, he blew with 10 seconds left when we had the free kick in their half, they time wasted in extra time bit this was also ignored.

Another ref who gave a free kick automatically if someone fell on the ground. Amazing new rule that’s been brought in.

And how on earth was it 1min in the first half. Boro had about 5mins celebrating their goal

A. Decision Making (including use of advantage) - 17 being in the jimmy mc I didn’t have a good enough view of the potential red card so will give him the benefit of the doubt however not playing the minimum 6 minutes was poor for me otherwise would have been higher.
B. Consistency - 20 players seemed to know what to expect from him.
C. Fitness and Positioning 22
D. Control and Authority - 17

Been at the turf twice now and think in general he’s been good. Wouldn’t be a surprise to see him in the prem in a few years.

Properly abject. A touch isn't contact. Total lack of consistency on that front. Gave to Boro not us. Missed a blatant foul throw even though he was five yards away. Let them stand on the ball and not walk them back. Let them pull arms and play advantage when there is not one. Allowed Roberts to be attacked on the touchline. Should have been more added time in both halves. The last two refs have been good but this guy was dogshit.

Far too many free kicks. And he made two bad errors on the Middlesbrough injury in the goal area with 10 minutes to go. Firstly, when a player is unable to move with a head injury, he ought to call the trainers on straight away. Head injuries must be taken seriously. Secondly, when he has run fifty yards to establish that the player isn't injured at all, he should not allow him a further thirty seconds or so to recover from the injury that he hasn't got.

That's a general gripe with many referees. The ref asks "are you injured" and the player replies (or might as well do) "no, I just want to waste time in hopes that you won't add it on". The referee should not answer "OK, take as long as you like". They ought to start immediately.

Exactly this.

"Are you okay, do you need the physio"
"No I'm ok, give me a minute"
"Ok, we're playing on now. Get up when you can"

Or

Are you okay, do you need the physio"
"No I'm ok, give me a minute"
"Ok, I stopped my clock the moment we stopped playing for you, and it won't be started again until the ball moves. Whatever the difference is will be added on. Not saying you are doing it at this moment, but just letting you know that time wasting won't work with me"

It would stop overnight.

Seemed happy to blow up for the softest of fouls for them. Yet another ref that seemed happy that no football of note could be played after 70 minutes due to the play acting, time wasting and cheating.

I’m with this view.

There some pathetic dives and shameful time wasting which has now become commonplace in most matches. This All filters down from the Pepmaster and his like.

How Latte latt didn’t get any card( yellow or red) for grabbing Roberts round the neck I don’t know. He was stood about 10 yards away, so had a perfect view.
Other than that he did ok.

A couple or three complete guesses in front of the Bob Lord Stand where he'd clearly told the assistant not to give any fouls.

They absolutely took the p!ss for the last 10 minutes - and it's a poor ref that lets them do it.

Gave too many soft free kicks, once again was speaking to players for time wasting and doing nothing about it, and his timekeeping itself wasn't very good. Not good enough.

It was a very strange and sudden ending, with time still on the clock, without taking into account, time to record booking and additional time wasting.

Has the rule been changed about retreating 10 yds at a free kick? Looks increasingly like it has.
Weak refereeing for the last 20 mins or so. Very strange conclusion to the game.

Parker looked bemused too when he blew at the end

I thought he did OK personally in tricky conditions and with one team who were perfectly happy to invoke dark arts. He was pragmatic when conditions dictated it and called Boro's bluff a couple of times when they collapsed. It did look 5 seconds short at the end per the stadium clock but it's just possible that was behind the ref's own watch and that is the only clock that matters.

There is a point about teams not retreating but that's a general issue not a referee specific issue and in fairness I'd rather he allowed us to get on with it where it doesn't directly influence rather than disrupt the game by stopping it.

As with the players on both sides, Mr Kitchen deserves a lot of credit for his contribution in producing a good match in horrendous conditions.

It would help considerably if players knew the difference between a foul and their just falling over to con the officials. The number of players who just fall over is quite worrying, they must have terrible balance problems and these will get worse as they get older, as will the rolling over and over.

Seems to have been the case quite a lot this season with teams looking to suck as much life as possible out of the match in the second half of the second half. Feels like quite a few games where there have been prolonged spells of virtually no football being played.

As I said further up, they’re taking the p!ss.

There doesn’t appear to be too many refs around who can deal with it.
