Funny game. Far better team first half. Second half their poor finishing let them down while our poor decisions let us down.

A fair result overall I’d say.

Trafford 7 - liked his stop when Latte Lath was in behind
Roberts 8* - great goal and consistently good attacking play
Egan 6 - did okay but poor on the goal, way too deep
Esteve 7 - misjudged their goal by stepping out but fine
Humphreys 7 - did well up against a real talent in Doak
Cullen 7 - large part in first half dominance
Brownhill 8 - really dynamic from the skip tonight, liked it
Anthony 6 - minus 1 for not playing Brownhill through 1v1
Koleosho 5 - Djksteel was MOM in fairness
Sarmiento 8 - threat every time he was on the ball
Rodriguez 5 - didn’t offer much

Hannibal 4 - minus 1 for not playing Anthony through 1v1
Flemming 5 - couple of cute passes, couple not very cute

Enjoyable game in horrendous conditions. Felt we just about did enough for the win overall but were let down by 2 really poor decisions made with a final pass. We looked a really good side first half albeit one lacking that final something up top still. Onto Derby!

Awful conditions and they are a good team. Take a point but there are areas to improve. The first two subs made us much less effective.

Trafford 7 - solid enough in foul conditions
Roberts 8* - outstanding first half, faded second but got us the point
Egan 5 - looked off the pace and half responsible for the goal
Esteve 7 - assured
Humphreys 6 - handled Liverpool’s Doak OK but did lose him a couple of times and was part culpable for the goal
Cullen 7 - controlled the game first half, got bypassed for first part of the second
Brownhill 7 - made some great runs and it is a crime one of them didn’t win us the game
Anthony 3 - a player not making the easy pass to give our leading goalscorer an open goal, is unforgivable, at least for 24 hours then we go again, hopefully suitably chastised. Don’t do it again son.
Sarmiento 6 - lively but conditions rendered him a bit impotent
Koleosho 6 - like the Road Runner with no Wile E Coyote to add a bit of cunning
Rodriguez 4 - anonymous tonight sadly

Hannibal 3 - terrible cameo and missed one great pass but did little else right too
Flemming 3 - hardly touched the ball but was sold a pup in his wrong position

I really am reluctant to criticise, especially as we missed virtual open goals to win the game had easy passes been taken. But Parker started positive but ended way too negative tonight. He took off 3 attackers and put 3 midfielders on to replace them. We ended up with a midfielder wide right, a midfielder up front, and a midfielder in the hole. That isn’t good enough. That’s why 1-1 was all we deserved.

I do feel that we should be miles clear in this division, this is the best team on form and we dominated them apart from 15 minutes where they missed 3 good chances. It feels like we will end up top 2. But to do that, Santa may have to have a striker in his stocking.

I’d love Scotty to be a bit less pragmatic, but I will keep my powder dry. If it works, I’ll laud him. If it doesn’t, well, I won’t.

(hopefully I have given enough context for my 3s to keep the UTC trolls at bay - I am very positive normally)

Trafford 8
Roberts 8
Egan 7
Esteve 7
Humphreys 6 (I've only seen it the once, but it appeared he lost his man and it cost us. Plus his CB cameo later on wasn't in any way convincing)
Cullen 7
Brownhill 6
Sarmiento 7 (excellent first half)
Koleosho 5
Anthony 6
Jayrod 5

Subs - Awful!

Imagine being ‘marked down’ because a centre back is five yards behind the rest of the defence.

Yeah exactly, but Esteve left that huge hole by stepping out and missing the interception.

Esteve steps way too far forward, Humphreys looks away with the fairies and thus a right back scored by stepping into a huge hole left by those two on the left, and it looked to me like Roberts was as deep as Egan, so yes i have marked them down. I like both players and will praise when its due but that was an awful goal to concede from their side

Trafford 7 - decent overall but we need to speed up the distribution again
Roberts 8 - MoM - he's in a rich vein of form at the moment. I thought the two right backs were the best two players on the pitch!
Humphreys 6 - a real battle with Doak, who I thought was very good. No idea where he was for their goal.
Esteve 6 - a bit of an off night for Esteve, not sure where he was for their goal either!
Egan 7 - steady away, we have an embarrassment of riches at CB
Cullen 8 - very good given the conditions
Brownhill 7 - industrious stuff
Sarmiento 8 - everything good went through him, surely he had a knock?
Anthony 7 - some harsh marks for him tonight, I actually thought we played well with Sarmiento
Koleosho 4 - dreadful. Offered nothing in the final third and kept getting in the way in our defence. I'd be surprised if he made more than a couple of passes to Burnley players all night. It's becoming a worry.
Jay 6 - sensible football, it all fell apart when he went off with Sarmiento

Hannibal 5 - booked, should have squared his shot
Flemming 4 - genuinely don't know what he offers, looks like a pub player
Pires 6 - decent cameo
Laurent 6 - decent cameo

To be fair esteve and Humphrey’s were a lot further forward than Egan and roberts.Terrible back line for the goal.

Trafford - 7 - decent game in awful conditions - no chance with goal

Roberts - 7 - good game, good goal
Esteve - 6 - decent but partly at fault for the goal, can’t step out like that
Egan - 6 - solid but played everyone on for the goal
Humphreys - 8* - had a really good game against their best player, and came out on top most of the night

Cullen - 7 - rich vein of form
Brownhill - 7 - good game
Sarmiento - 8 - must have been injured, surely?

Anthony - 5 - too many wrong decisions including not playing Brownhill in
Jay - 6 - folk slate him but when he’s not playing all shape goes out the window
Koleosho - 5 - I think he’s just trying too hard

Flemming - 3 - we need to stop the striker experiment now. He’s clueless up top
Hannibal - 4 - if he looks up he plays Anthony in. Difficult game to come on and impact

An awful night to play football in those conditions. A mistake led to their goal. They’ve been rolling goals in for fun and never looked like getting a hat full against us. Actually thought overall we were the better team but the last half hour just became a battle for both sides. Decent point

To be fair Egan has never played alongside Esteve and if I am correct Humphreys has never started at left back alongside Esteve and they had a very tricky winger to contend with tonight. I know we are light up front, in the centre and to me on the wings but a good left back should be a priority. Come back Stephen Ward!!!

Credit to both sides to producing a decent game in abysmal conditions. Fair result.

Trafford - 8 - handled well in horrible conditions and a couple of useful saves, especially from Latte Lath.

Roberts - 7 - got rewards for having a punt in conditions which favoured it with his goals and generally tidy up amd down his flank.

Humphrys- 6 - thought he struggled a bit with Doak at times although he was steady enough in possession. Looked assured at centre back.

Egan - 5 - the main culprit for the goal because he was 3 yards behind the defence and played Dijksteel onside, and he looked particularly rusty generally.

Esteve- 7 - broadly coped OK with the conditions although there were a few tricky moments.

Cullen - 8 - played the conditions exceptionally well.

Brownhill- 7 - a neat touch to create the space for the equaliser and competed well. Will probably feel he should have done better with a second half half chance.

Sarmiento - 7 - thought he was one of our best players in the first half but thr conditions meant he struggled to get into the game after half time. Slightly surprising he was withdrawn though.

Anthony- 5 - a quiet, tentative amd ultimately inspipid evening although he worked hard.

Koleosho- 6 - a mixture of sone frustrating moments where he overplayed and some nice flashes. His willingness to take players on is creditable even if it didn't always come off.

Rodriguez- 5 - not really in the game and our lack of a centre forward of the effectiveness of Latte Lath or Conway was exposed a bit tonight.

Hannibal - 5 - I think we established he's not a right winger.

Flemming - 5 - as Rodriguez, struggled to impose himself.

Laurent - 7 - a very useful cameo and his ability to read conditions and adapt suggested perhaps he might have started.

Pires- 7 - added a bit more composure in possession.

A draw probably the right result although Boro will feel they had the better chances. Whilst the goal we conceded initially looked to be Esteve and Humphrys' fault (and indeed neither was particularly well placed in that phase) the replay shows the real issue was that Egan was lagging well behind the line. That set the tone for a slightly unconvincing defensive display although the conditions were a real factor. Going the other way, we dominated territory in the first half without carving out the quality of chance Boro managed in the second half and in the end we were probably the happier with a point.

I was a little surprised with Parker's second half changes- it felt like a night where it'd have been worth pairing Rodriguez and Flemming for a period to see if that extra presence in the final third could help us simplify the game in such difficult conditions, and it was a surprise that Sarmiento was withdrawn rather than shifted to the flank, unless he was injured. But in all the circumstances a draw isn't a bad result. We move on, and hopefully a few of our absentees return quickly. We missed Egan Riley, amongst others, tonight.

Trafford - 7 Nothing spectacular but did everything needed well. Not really troubled.
Roberts - 8 He has definitely picked up the pace in the last 4-6 weeks. Good goal if not a little fortunate.
Egan - 6 Average performance. Probably not up to speed yet and that’s why he played them on for the goal.
Esteve - 7 Another good performance. Lost his player once for the free header 2nd half.
Humphreys - 8 Thought he had a very good game and kept the tricky winger pretty quiet.
Anthony - 6 Balls in to the box were lacking slightly but overall not a bad performance but should have played Brownhill on late on.
Brownhill - 6 Did ok. Didn’t do anything wrong but lacked involvement.
Cullen - 7 Another good performance. Slightly down on his Stoke game but he’s definitely on the right trajectory
Koleosho - 4 I really should rate him lower but he’s young and inexperienced. Very frustrating. Cuts inside and loses the ball…passes the ball and gives it away…when he does pass to a Burnley player he stands still rather than run into another area to provide options. Rinse and repeat every game.
Sarmiento - 7 Very good game until he started struggling with a knock/cramp. Shame he had to come off.
Jay Rod - 4 Can’t remember him touching the ball too much.

Hannibal - 5 Mr Walking Yellow card. A little sympathy as he was being played out of position
Laurent - 6 I really like him as a player but unfortunately he’s always going to struggle to get in the team as Parker hates dropping Brownhill and Cullen. Adds impetus.
Flemming - 5 Couple of nice knocks round the corner but I want to see him in his natural position
Pires - 5 Could maybe have caused more problems if allowed to come on earlier.

At the end of the day it’s a pretty good point and continues the unbeaten run and against a half decent side who spoiled it with some dramatics which were not needed. We move on to Tuesday.

Roberts 7* great game mom
Egan 6 looked a yard of it
Esteve 7
Humphreys 6
Cullen 7
Brownhill 6
Anthony 5 - never gets stuck in, would lose a 80/20
Sarmiento 7 - Bizarre to take him off
Koleosho 4
Rodriguez 5

Laurent 6
Hannibal 4 what does he offer?
Flemming 4 needs to be played as a pair up front

2nd half we never got going again
Sarmiento went off because he got a knock on his calf, was hobbling for 5 minutes before being substituted

Roberts is in line with Esteve and Humphrys when the ball is played, he just turned and got back in quickly. Egan is squarely to blame even if Esteve goes to challenge for a ball he cannot win and Humphrys is slow to react. Pure rustiness unfortunately.

Humphreys has started lots of games at left back next to Esteve including the last game

All opinions but extremely harsh I feel on Anthony tonight? Fantastic corners that we didn’t capitalise on and flashed some decent balls across their goal.

Trafford 7 Find slow distribution during last period of game infuriating when we should be pushing for a winner but ok
Roberts 8 Fine goal good finish irrespective of wind not because of it, busy with the ball
Egan 6 Did Ok but hope CJ is back for Tuesday
Esteve 7 Defended well enough but dithered when distributing the ball
Humphreys 8 Handled Doak really well as he`s a handful
Cullen 7 some good some not so
Brownhill 6 Had his moments but still not contributing enough, Laurent for me
Anthony 7 Some poor crosses early on but improved as the game went on, should have picked out Brownhill though
Sarmiento 8 MoM Never stopped running taking men on and trying to make things happen
Koleosho 5 Needs a spell on the bench, doesn`t deserve a starting berth at the moment
Rodriguez 6 Huffed and puffed but not as effective as last few games

Subs:
Flemming 6
Hannibal 6
Laurent 7 Should have started
Pires 7 we looked more creative down our left when he came on

Parker 7 not sure all the subs improved our performance but wouldn`t personally have changed the back four at that time
