Appointed as assistant manager to Wayne Rooney at Plymouth. Seems like a very sensible appointment.

He certainly seems to need some help.

He hasn't got a very strong squad, if he and Phelan can pick up a few points away from home they may just survive,
Defending away from home is the biggest problem

Hope it works for Phelan, he's obviously being lined up as manager.

I don’t think he’s being lined up. I think Micky is going in to help because he and Rooney are good mates.

I admire Wayne for having a go, and hope he and Micky Phelan succeed.

Yup, the former second in command Pete Shuttleworth has left by "mutual consent". Maybe a case of 'scape goating'?

I said on another thread that Rooney would have been under no illusions at the size of the task he was taking on. I hope Phelan can help him keep Argyle up.

I like Phelan good footballer and No2 and a master at popping balloons scaring the shlt out of Ferguson still funny every time I see it.

Suspect Wayne is a bit too impulsive and Phelan will be a tried and tested sounding board. Immensely respected by the United players when Phelan was Fergie's assistant. Be a great shoulder for the Plymouth players. Can see this working

Think it is a very good move. Micky has plenty of experience to back up WR

Really good appointment. Micky has a hell of a lot of experience on the coaching and managerial experience. Given he worked for Ferguson for so long tells you everything.

Wayne needs someone to sort out the defence, hopefully MP can do this.

According to Rooney they've been working on the defence since shipping 4 at Coventry, Mike Phelan must like a challenge because he's working with dross with the ultimate excuse merchant.

that's not exactly fair, they have had lots of injuries to key members of what wasn't a very strong squad to start with.

Wouldn't surprise me if MP takes over when Rooney eventually gets the bullet.

If he wants the gig.

A big home defeat against fellow West Country club Bristol City on NYD could spell the end of Mr. Spudface.
