January Chequebook

Players that can actually test a goalkeeper definitely needed in January. The amount of turgid games we’ve had this season where a keeper has barely had to make a save is getting ridiculous now.

Sure Alan will swerve any questions around that at the fans forum.

Pathetic tonight against a team that was there for the taking.

And many called Dyche. He had players with character and in the top league. This lot can't hold a candle to them. It's the fault of the owners who are clueless about English football

They definitely did - a 1 on 1 inside the box and an "open goal" rebound albeit from a tight angle - plus 2 shots from the edge of the box - 1 just wide and 1 just over

Dyche actually had a similar problem in our second promotion season under him. He quickly rectified it by signing Gray and Barton.

Parker needs to do something similar.

He quickly did that by signing both in August. We’re up against it now going in to January.

4 big chances v 2
14 shots v 6

Said on a page earlier this week but January needs to see nearly ten transactions 5-6 out 3-4 in.

We are carrying a lot of players that will just never play for us again and are likely costing a lot. Flemming, Worrall, Delcroix, Sambo etc… need to be moved on (plus any other deadwood we have like tresor).

We need to be spending 10m on at least two players in the attacking third. I’m not convinced any of Anthony, Koleosho, Sarmiento should be starting regular for us. Then up front god knows what we do. We seemingly have 4 strikers on the book and all of them have struggled this season

It was terrible the last 18 months. People wanted him out when we were struggling in his 2nd stint in the championship when we got battered 3-0 at Hull on Boxing Day. Luckily the board didn’t crap themselves and stood by him

I’m afraid it’s Scott parker. We were warned about his Southgate esc football. We could have been there another 2 hours and not scored

You are suggesting selling Flemming when he’s on loan and Worrall who has a not just signed. Sambo and Delcroix will go on loan more than likely. Tresor will leave to and I would actually let brownhill go, if he’s not going to sign a new deal just get some kind of fee for him

That’s nonsense re ‘it’s Scott Parker.’ If Odobert and Amdouni stay it’s a totally different set up.

He got lumbered with this squad and needs backing to bring in some quality up front. Flemming granted has looked pathetic so far.

Carlton Morris would be my #1 target for January. I think Luton would be open to offers.

He'd offer aggression with the ability to actually play the 9 position as I think SP wants it to be played.

Tbf I’m not suggesting we sell Flemming, I’m suggesting we cancel the loan before it’s made permanent.

Worrall in my opinion was just a bizarre signing, he looks like he’s probably fourth choice now and he’s likely to be our highest paid defender.

The others I agree will leave under loans or transfers. But ideally we just need to recoup as much cash as possible and get a couple of top players in.

I will say in hindsight our summer business is looking really poor now.

Pace and co have got a hell of task ahead of them in January. I’m personally expecting a seriously busy month. Part of me thinks Koleosho will be moved on before his fee dives of a cliff

If Amdouni and Odobert stay then I’d win the league with that team.

He’s got to start getting more, especially offensively, from the squad he’s got. He’s completely risk averse. Tonight was screaming out for Flemming (who is appalling as a striker) to play behind Jay.

None of the summer singings/loans have hit the ground running, Sarmiento starting to look good but even that is only in spells in games.

Laurent at 500k is looking like our best business and he’s not going to be a difference maker in the season

I would tend to agree with you given that’s his best position, but I truly don’t think that role would suit him at all in this set up.

That role requires a real flair player, someone that can thread passes and play in tight spaces (almost a David silva esque). Flemming is just not that type of player. He’s a player that likes beating the offside trap and being fed through, unfortunately that is never ever gonna work for us because everyone sits so deep.

I think it’s partially why he’s been so ineffective. He hasn’t been able to adapt his game and as a result he’s left isolated all game

We can’t even cross a bloody ball. He brought In Flemming, pires, Anthony, Laurent …They are all mediocre, Lower half championship players.

Defensively he’s not brought anyone in bar Humphries and pires (league 2 standard footballer) . Humphries looks like he’s got something about him but he’s literally not added anything other than him defensively worthy of any note.

I agree, but I would say right now the core of the team is set now, the fringe players need to be shipped on or added to.

We won’t get close to Leeds or Sheffield if we don’t get some serious talent in quickly

We are two or three good players away. Our defence is by far the best in the league, if we can find two or three that can score the occasional goal we are up

We need to ship out the fringe squad and bring in some real quality. Thats the only way it’s going to work under Parker. He isn’t a tactical genius and is another plug and play manager with his tactics.

To be fair Megamind has left behind a mess with the squad which needs sorting out.

We don’t need to spend just wait till we unleash Redmond, Ramsey, Foster and of course Tresor. Parker obviously lulling the rest of the league into a false sense of security.

I’ll wager on it mate. Parkerball isn’t suited for attacking minded players. We could sign some really good players and the way he sets out to bore fans (esteve taking goal kicks passing to 3 defenders before passing to Trafford to then lump it and lose the next ball) will carry on

A number of them have been disappointing so far. Let's not forget, had he been given more time to make considered decisions he may not have signed them. He had the rug pulled from under him with the exodus.

Let's see what he does in January. If he's given some decent money to add 2 or 3 key players and it all comes together, all those writing a guy off after a few months will be hailing him as the messiah.

Past history with Burnley in the PL doesn't give me confidence. Ok, Dyche did a great job at times but large parts were still a grind to stay up. It always will be I'd imagine.

I dont particularly care for that league either, but our finances demand it sadly. I shudder to think what will happen in 2 or 3 years time if we haven't gone up.
