Seems to me he's saying the crowd made the players anxious, and as a result, they took the wrong decisions.

The crowd deserved to be anxious!
On a related note, I thought the Cricket Field stand was for the singing section?
They were total rubbish last night. Should be moved to the Bob Lord.

The whole ground seemed quiet.
And pretty sparse where I am, a fair few regulars absent.
It's The Board who should be getting anxious.

His he not saying poor decisions by the players created the anxiety?

The worrying bit I heard was him saying he didn't like how we started crossing the ball towards the end and played to the occasion/emotion of the crowd.
There in lies the problem, he wants emotionless football at all times where we just continue to probe and probe for 96 minutes or however long. Whatever the game status he fully believes (and says so in his interviews) that he has done enough research to tell him that's the best way of scoring goals.

He kind of says that then kind of reverses it.
I'm fairly sure he's blaming the anxiety emanating from the stands.

It's just really difficult to get lost in the emotion of the game when there is such little action happening on the pitch. We don't cross the ball very often, we don't play direct balls in behind, we just recycle it around the pitch and when we do finally find ourselves in an advanced position, we quite often turn backwards to play inside again. That's when you can really feel the frustration of the crowd.

It probably is when you have the right players at your disposal.

And that's exactly what he wants. He even says they crossed it too much last night. He wanted even more sideways passing.

Uninspiring on and off the pitch. Getting worse, though and that is really concerning. Has nothing constructive at all ever to say. Just selects a theme and repeats it. His latest one is 'context'.

Always ends well when you start blaming the fans.
We all know where this is going but we'll just sit here a good while longer, watching the slow motion car crash.

In a way we're a very poor man's version of the Etihad Stadium and Man City. The atmosphere there often comes into question, and they are very much, up to recently of course a keep ball team, and will keep probing until they get in..
That type of football just doesn't make for a good atmosphere, especially when our players aren't in the same stratosphere as the City ones.
There's a reason Anfield is one of the best atmospheres around, they play with high energy, aren't afraid to play it longer or cross it into the box, this tempo transfers into the stands.

I always smile when some folk on here laud his open and honest interviews that come across well (or words to that effect).
The bloke talks vacuous nonsense dressed up with a few meaningless phrases eg "in context" (mentioned above), "in that sense" and never fails to mention how many times/years he's been in this division or football.

Well, he'll still be in this division next season.
That is if he lasts that long.

Don't we all get bored of listening to our own manager, whoever it is. They all come out with their own similar stuff and as we hear them all the time. Eventually I dont bother with listening.

Sorry thats rubbish what Parker said. I would have thought they’re all intelligent footballers that have a game plan drummed into them by the Manager. To talk about being anxious and making wrong decisions due to the crowd is a lame excuse. I’m fully behind Parker but can’t accept comments like that.

I'm guessing that he's not keen on crosses into the box because he has no-one to get on the end of them.

I’ll settle for 90+ minutes of us passing sideways if it means avoiding defeat against Bastards.
If we lose, though, I really think the fans will turn against him.

Despite having two strikers on the pitch towards the end? And Flemming having shown earlier in the season he can head a ball.

Yeah, it’s only 3 points of course but it’s starting to loom over us. It feels a bit like a reverse of 2014 when they had been on top for so long and it meant more to us..
The last manager who lost to them was Brian Laws of course.

It's the only reason I can think of. Compared to our really good target men in the last 15 years Flemming's not a great header of the ball, and I don't know if Houndondji is any better.

How many times do we get the ball level with the penalty area and pass back and then launch the ball in to 2 strikers who have to be superhuman to beat the goalie from there as Sarmiento tried to do last night ,can’t we have the occasional overlap and cross from the dead ball line and give our forwards something to attack? Not our manager he’d rather play safe with three defensive midfielders.

But he didn't say it was the crowd that caused the wrong decision making if I have read the opening paragraph correctly....
'Burnley manager Scott Parker says an anxious atmosphere around Turf Moor during their goalless Championship draw against Derby County was caused by poor decision-making'

Why would anybody read an article and then post the exact opposite of what the manager said ?
It’s not even reading between the lines !!
The article very clearly says that the players made the crowd feel anxious….not the other way around. And then just to reinforce that SP explains that it’s was the decision making of the players during the game that caused that anxiety.

If you get rid of Parker now how long do you give the new manager?
What if there is no improvement after say 12 matches. Do you make another change before the end of the season?

And you get them on there swiftly, good work pal.

We weren’t adventurous enough.
Our midfield doesn’t need to be so deep at home
We play for corners but are absolutely useless at converting one
We have owners who have never given us a balanced team just buy players hoping to realise a profit
The fans rightfully expect goals at home what shouldnt they?

Yes you’re right. I just relied on the wording in the original post. I must admit I did think before I replied it was a usual thing to say from an experienced Manager. I apologise to Mr Parker, who incidentally I’m fully behind.

Why can’t we just lump it into the box and see what happens? There’s always a chance that the clearance will go to us or we get a deflection off one of the 10 defenders in the box, who knows we might even get a header in target and their goalie might be caught flat footed

Bloody hell this thread and in particular the OP is embarrassing.
By all means criticise the manager, the players, the board, the displays etc….there’s hundreds of other threads to add your contribution.
But why make up something the manager clearly did not say and then even when it’s pointed out he actually said the opposite keep on repeating and reiterating the stuff you made up in the first place ?
It’s not a long article - it’s quicker to actually read than some of the contributions on this thread by posters who have not even read the article !

Burnley manager Scott Parker says an anxious atmosphere around Turf Moor during their goalless Championship draw against Derby County was caused by poor decision-making.
"The hardest part of the game in certain moments is looking for a bit of quality and brilliance that unlocks the door for you," he added.
"At times we've fallen short and that's my responsibility as a coach to help this group and ensure we're better.
Do people just lie to suit an agenda or are they too thick to understand what they have read ?
