Good song. Even better to have the entire away end belting it out at the last fixture.

Especially the line, 'We won the league at Ewood.'

I prefer it over no nay never these days. I know people don’t like the allez allez allez bit though.

Staying down forever,
Is what the B@stards said,
In 1987, they said our club was dead,
We won the league at Ewood,
Now everywhere we go,
We’ll sing this song forever,
And let the B@stards know
Allez allez allez, allez allez allez…

Not one to kick up a fuss about songs but can someone answer me this question....

E i e i e i up the football....

Is it

We all love you, we all love you

Or

We are Burnley, We are Burnley....

I notice the majority sing we are Burnley these days but i cant say ive ever sung those words... have i been getting it wrong since the promotion season in 2000?

It used to originally be ‘we all love you’.

It also used to be ‘but I’ve heard of the Longside, Burnley!’

In the season we finished 7th in the PL, the "We won the league at Ewood" line was "We're on our way to Europe" or something along those lines

I first heard this at Hillsborough late '72.

We all love you, Martin Dobson - king.
...was how it went then.

Same. Only realised at Sheff Utd when my lad was singing the new version, as was everyone else. I missed that memo.

I went to an alehouse I used to frequent,
Ken Furphy was there and his money was spent,
He asked me to pay
I answered No Nay
Football like yours I can watch any day.

And it's No Nay.....etc

That was the first version of NNN that I recall from 71/2 season....can anybody take it back further?

I thought I had been getting wrong recently too 🤣

Love the "We' ll sing this song forever... " the sentiment, possibly the best game I will ever attend, most people join in and crucially it is sang at a decent pace for the first couple of rounds! Which we seem to struggle with compared to all the others

The bit I find myself getting wrong is the fact I still sing Sean Dyche is king

The weekend was the first time Ive noticed people not singing "We all love you" (which Ive always sung !). I might have been slow on the uptake here.

Would be better if we came up with it ourselves. Just feels like every club sings the same generic chants these days.

We started singing it in the Europa League.

"now we're back in Europe,
back where we belong
and everywhere you see us
we'll always sing this song"

Glad it's back. Sounds great.

I love it. It's by far the best song we sing. Honours our fightback after 87 and our glorious night at Deadwood while also rubbing their noses in it. What's not to like?

And it's not about an individual player. So many good songs just disappear when a player leaves, as is inevitable. Marney left and so did about six songs! More songs like Staying Down Forever would be brilliant, ones which are just about Burnley! (Also got no swearing which means it gets sung by more people. I'm not including "Bastards" as swearing, it's their name.)

The No Nay Never came from the Longside in the early/mid 70s as Rovers slid to the old Division 3. Boxcar and his gang came up with the words with songsheets. Ken Furphy in the pub and Billy Bancroft sweeping Burnley's Longside. The irony now is Rovers have it has their entrance music played on their PA system.

Yep, I'd have you right - 71/2 was the first time I heard it, but it only really started to gain popularity(volume!) around the time of the Villa game 72/3.

It sounds great and it means NNN isn't sound every five minutes.

I tried but couldn't get Claret and Blue Army going on Saturday. Bizarre how that's disappeared. It's a good one because it is sustainable for ages.

We use to chant that for about 10 minutes and it really got to the opposition. Don't know why they stopped doing it.

A favourite was this, sung to the Heinz song, Just like Eddie.

Whenever you’re sad, whenever you’re blue, whenever the Clarets are playing,
For League or Cup, we’ll fight like ****, to keep the Clarets flag flying.

It got resurrected briefly when Eddie Howe came but disappeared again.

John Connelly-John Connelly the winger to watch, was sung in the early 60s, from the words of a tv advert. I just can’t remember which 1.
Re the words to the song sung down the road on Sat, ending Allez Allez Allez, surely there’s a Burnley fan out there who could put together some poignant rhyming words, with a better ending.
