Really hope he pushes on in this loan. There's definitely a player in there.

I like Dodgson but I think its unlikely his future will be at Burnley, hopefully he has a great loan and puts himself in the shop window for a good move in the summer.

I remember him playing really well against Benfica, hope he does well at Burton. He really needs to be playing games now.

Good he's got a League One club. They're in a mess but he should get to play.

Not sure what he will learn at a struggling club with a poor manager but at least he should get plenty of game Tom

I can see Dodgson being close to both Bobby Thomas(Coventry) and Jimmy Dunn (QPR).Both never here long enough to develop their potential but both very good defenders with their respective clubs

It's always going to be difficult to develop players as a yo-yo team. If they're not up to standard at exactly the right time in the championship they're going to struggle to get those opportunities. I think we are very lucky that CJ Egan Riley got his chance through injuries.
Good luck to the lad. I hope he gets plenty of game time and shows that he's more than good enough at that level.

Re: ARTICLE: League One loan move for Dodgson
Dodgson was a great success at Dundee last season and did best of the 3 we sent up there I believe (Mellon got injured tbf). I know we're often scathing about SPL football on here, but it's certainly a decent standard for a 21 year old lad. Parker must think he's pretty good to have had him on the bench a few times this season, so maybe he's still got a future with us. I'm not not sure he'll learn a lot at seriously struggling Burton, but at least he'll be playing and that's the main thing! I also think we have a problem regarding loaning players because I can't see us generally being happy to loan players to championship clubs if we think they might make a real difference, even though some of our players could really benefit from playing championship games. Loaning Obefemi to Plymouth is ok, but that's unusual.

McNally, Twine, Zaroury, Obafemi? They were all a step above our U21s. I think it's more a case of Championship clubs not being interesting in taking our untried young players.I can't see us generally being happy to loan players to championship clubs

McNally went to Coventry when we were in the Championship. He was considered excess to requirement but maybe the other players weren't because we didn't have a ridiculously bloated squad at that point. When was the last time we loaned a homegrown player to the Championship? Jay Rod?
Re: ARTICLE: League One loan move for Dodgson
Did pretty well last night. Both Boston goals came from his crosses. Only credited with one assist as a defender got a touch to the first but couldn't clear it. That win lifted them off the bottom.

He got an assist today. Looking at the Burton message board they are really impressed with him and his crossing in particular.
Re: ARTICLE: League One loan move for Dodgson
Scored from his corner and the third came from his cross which the goalkeeper spilt at the feet of a Burton forward. He only has 2 assists but 3 goals from his crosses and one from his corner. Looked more like a wing back role this time round. He definitely looks to be making his mark for them.
Re: ARTICLE: League One loan move for Dodgson
Someone on their board said he is a cheat code in that division.
Re: ARTICLE: League One loan move for Dodgson
Another goal from one of his crosses, the shot was diverted by another player so he didn't get the assist but he got one from a free kick.
Amazing the creativity that he's providing through his crosses and set pieces. I wonder if that's why he wasn't loaned out earlier in the season.
3 assists in 4 games so far. He looks really comfortable in League One, hopefully he can keep this form up.

He also began a couple of good moves from LB position, playing incisive passes through the middle.
Only watched the first hour, but apart from a couple of stray passes in the first 5 minutes or so, he'd a good game from what I saw.

He wasn’t able to be loaned out earlier in the season because of an injury, otherwise he would have been.dibraidio wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 8:11 amAnother goal from one of his crosses, the shot was diverted by another player so he didn't get the assist but he got one from a free kick.

If he had been given a chance in the first team IMO this season he good have established himself like Egan-Riley.

A creative attacking left back. How we could do with one of those
