Hladky 6 have to deduct a point for that blooper
Sonne 7 Like the look of this lad, seems to be our most skilful FB for a while
Worrall 7 Defended well but broke the cardinal rule, don`t take someone on when you`re the last man
Egan 7 Steady away
Pires 6 Not convinced by this lad defensively, ok going forward
McDermott 7 Brilliant debut, didn`t look out of place, well done
Bauress 7 As above but a great assist to add
Koleosho 6 Normal performance, bags of effort but no end product
Jay 6 Still looked off the pace against a lg 1 side, not a midfielder
Foster 8* MoM looked dangerous every time he got the ball and made several good efforts for himself, be good to have him back
Barnes 6 Didn`t really get much service but don`t see him as a starter for Lg matches but will be handy from the bench and so glad he`s back
Ekdal 7 Looked like he`d never been away
Humphreys 8 just as effective down the right as he is down the left, going to be good acquisition
Tresor 8 Showed the skill we suspected he had but needs to work on his fitness level
Flemming 8 Coming good at the right time could be the difference between play offs and automatic

Hladky 6 ok other than error
Sonne 7 excellent debut, though seemed to tire second half
Worrall 8 together with Egan, just as good as Steve and CJ normally are
Egan 7 see Worrall
Pires 6 defensive nous questionable, owok
McDermott 7 excellent debut
Bauress 7 ditto
Koleosho 6 a bit more end product today but needs to keep working on it.
Jay 6 interesting role for him today - may extend his career
Foster 8* excellent on the left side
Barnes 6 not much from Ashley other than lots of running around
Ekdal 7 seamless change with Egan
Humphreys 7 nice cross for goal
Tresor 8 If he wants to be here, he’ll be the promotion clincher.
Flemming 8 two sharp finishes

Great to see 2 youngsters in midfield looking so settled.
Foster our real threat throughout the game.
A good showing from Tresor but something isn't right with him. Flemming really looking a player now he is fit.
Jay and Ashley, although they held their own, there was little in terms of threatening to score but maybe an experienced head will be required over the next few months.
Looking forward to Friday night already!

Hladky 4 Minus 2 or 3 for the schoolboy clanger
Sonne 7 Great debut. Looks very classy.
Pires 6 Okay. Nowhere as good as BH
Worrall 8 Excellent. Shows what he offers.
Egan 7 Decent. A good old head to have around.
Bauress 7 Great debut from the kid.
McDermott 7 Another great performance. Has a bit of bite.
Koleosho 5 No end product. Loses possession too much. Flashes of brilliance.
Foster 8 A beast at this level. Still rusty but getting there.
Jay Rod 5 some good link play but runs in quicksand.
Bashley 5 Added very little today. Would have liked to have seen Westley on the bench.
Subs:
Flemming 9* On fire at the moment. Everything he touches goes in.
Tresor 7 Decent cameo. Looked knackered after one sprint.
Humphreys 7 Our best LB by a mile. So naturally played RB.
Ekdal 7 Good to see him back. A classy player. I doubt we'll see much more of him.

I thought he was excellent in that role. We need to stop seeing him as a striker, he's never really been a number 9 and even more so now...he is better when he's deeper and getting involved with the general play
He's hit some absolutely fantastic switches of play throughout this season and his touch is as good as ever.

Hakdal 6-shame about the mistake , other than that he was sound
Sonne 7-bright and intellegent debut
Worral 8-some very good headers, blocks and tackles
Egan 7-took a bad knock first half, and eventually went off
Pires 5-we really are exposed defensively when he starts. Has no discipline for a defender and strays and is not a strong marker
Mc Dermot 7-had a great game, always shoed up for the ball and good distribtion
Bauress 7-very similat performance to McDermott
Jay 6-playing deeper and as captain. Showed repeatedly his legs have gone even against a League One team
Barnes5 -you can see his motivational ability throughout the game, but almost invisible in his playing contribution
Foster 7-showed a number of glimpses of his strong powerful running. Could have had a hat trick. Maybe wide 11 is his position. Based on today he offers more direct running than Koleosho, and I would start him v Sunderland in this position

Hladky 5 nowt to do , unlucky howler
Sonne 6- steady on a quiet day
Worrall 7 - seemed steady enough
Egan 6- bit rusty but new partnership not easy
Pires 5- hardly pushed but a messy out of sorts game
Bauress 7- slipped in well
McDermott 7- again slipped in well and confident , bit naive
at times but great learning curve .
Koleosho 6- lively ( and frustrating) as usual
Rodriguez 5- looks totally finished sadly
Foster 8 -good stuff from Fozzy on wing cutting in
Barnes 5- looked miles off though clearly fit .
Flemming 8 - 2 goal cameo , excellent
Tresor 7- nice cameo , lovely touches ,assist , but clearly unfit and barely broke out of a stroll.
Bash H-7 straight on the pace
Laurent na
Ekdal 6- slotted in
Let’s not get carried away here , we relatively comfortably held a reasonable Div 1 side , but until ZF’s turn could have easily been mugged . That said , a total thrown together side ( not without talent) did their job.

Hladky 6 - thought he looked good with both feet but the howler is a nightmare
Sonne 7 -
Worrall 9* - perhaps this level plays to his strengths but he had quality in nearly everything
Egan 7
Pires 6 - I think he is unfairly whipped on here
McDermott 7 - really liked what I saw for most of the game.
Bauress 8 - trying not to get over-excited but if he was on loan from Chelsea, what would we be saying!
Koleosho 7 - played well. As always, he's lacking an end product but he carries a threat.
Jay 6 - You could see how old he was in a number of touches. Did OK.
Foster 8 - Looks the part, at times.
Barnes 5 - Not the debut I wanted but I felt more comfortable with set pieces in both directions.
Ekdal 7 - oozes class
Humphreys 7
Tresor 8 - probably the best 15 mins of his 18 months with us.
Flemming 8 - really like him. I just feel he's not a 9 and I want him to play off a 9.

No ratings from me because I didn't see enough of the game to do them.
But some observations
I would struggle to give Hladký much over 4. There were two howlers shown even on the short BBCi highlights. Trafford would have been getting 3s for any one of them.
Sonne looked OK
The central defenders did well and Worrall would have been my man of the match.
Bauress/McDermott both did ever so well
Jay/Foster played well
Barnes looked a mile off but his time on the pitch will have done him some good
Trésor - an unexpected surprise

Let’s not get carried away here , we relatively comfortably held a reasonable Div 1 side , but until ZF’s turn could have easily been mugged . That said , a total thrown together side ( not without talent) did their job.
The respective benches tilted things our way. We brought on experience and quality - the Reading bench was primarily made up of Academy lads with an average age of 20. Before that, we were making heavy weather of it aside from an early purple patch where we could and should have been 2-0 up.
As a quick aside - we don't have much to learn from Reading but I note their Academy is Cat 1 and has been for a long time. Quite a few of the Academy boys are set to follow their former manager into the Championship this month. Puts things into context when we discuss our two debuts yesterday.

The big shock at Reading, despite all their issues, was losing their Cat 1 status in 2022 when we lost ours. They got theirs back a year later.

I was unaware they had temporarily lost it, but believe they have had it since the early 2010s all told.

Hladky 5 - Good game with his feet. Interplayed well with CBs to manoeuvre an out ball, nice accurate lofted passes to wide full backs and decent accuracy when going long. Terrible howler for the goal though + an "air shot" with an attempted punch (under little pressure) when their forward headed onto the roof of the net first half.
Sonne 7 - Steady, especially considering his first game here and hardly on speaking terms yet with his teammates.
Worrall 8
Egan 7 Both centre backs played the ball around at the back safely and had too much nous for Reading attackers when defending, extra point for Worrall for his longer passing skills.
Pires 7 - He supported Foster down the left really well & energetically and helped Foster to turn in a v good display, still prone to the odd lapse defensively though.
Bauress 7
McDermott 7 - Both teenagers did well, got some help/encouragement from the more experienced players around (CBs, JR etc) as I think the manager alluded to in one of the interviews Ive seen. They can be very satisfied with this step forward.
Rodriguez 7 - Didnt do much to catch the eye but helped out the midfield a lot and did a lot of work (over full 120 minutes too).
Koleosho 7 - very energetic and took players on. As often noted, his "end product" is disappointing but he does draw defenders to him because of his pace/dribbling ability and this creates some uncertainty in defences and space for others + works v hard.
Foster 8 - The help he got from Pires gave him options to show what he can do. Did well out left and also when he came into the central area. Did the full 120 minutes too.
Barnes 6 - Didnt show his best but early days and new team mates.
Subs:
Flemming 8 - As a '10' he's beginning to look a good goal-grabber. Two goals within 15 minutes of coming on (one whilst horizontal on the deck) was exceptional.
For any of the other subs on long enough to count- say 7
Ekdal slotted into the CB position nicely and didnt look rusty.
Tresor Some good touches and game awareness + good at picking out a cross. It was a bit disconcerting to see him ambling back so slowly a couple of times though.

From tv
Hladky 5 would have been a 7 because of his excellent passing, but that howler was horrendous
Sonne 7 slotted in perfectly at rb, though he tired towards the end
Worrall 8 very good game, controlled the defence
Egan 7 solid
Pires 6 good going forward but defensively worrying
Koleosho 7 didn’t run into blind alleys as much as usual. His passing was better than normal
Buaress 7 impressive performance from a young player, good to see them being selected
McDermott 8 overall I thought he was the better of the two youngsters, some of his first time passing was excellent. They both tired in the latter stages, which is to be expected
Jayrod 6 played well a a make-shift centre midfielder
Barnes 5 looked like player who hadn’t actually played for weeks
Foster 9 mom, without doubt one of his best ever games for us, strong running, puts pressure on defenders, scored a goal. He has to play along side Flemming
Tresor 6 started off well, showing skill and movement, but quickly faded.
Flemming 8 don’t know if he gets a rating due to time on pitch, but this guy has got skill, movement and attacking awareness. Please, Mr Parker, play him and Foster together.
A good overall display from our second string, showing a total difference in class between the top of the Championship and League 1. I was delighted to witness the debuts of the two youngsters, they played with a calm assurance and showed plenty of skill. Also, a special mention for Foster, who certainly puts pressure on defenders when he is allowed to run at defenders.

I was unaware they had temporarily lost it, but believe they have had it since the early 2010s all told.
Just that one year - been Cat 1 since the start of EPPP otherwise. The current owner tried to sell the training ground too last year to Wycombe but there's a covenant on it which states it can only be used by Reading FC so at least that was protected.
