Nuneaton
Anyone been?
Thinking of a long weekend there and looking for recommendations - places of interest, decent pubs and restaurants.
I might try to watch a match too at Nuneaton Town. Are tickets easy to get hold of and what is public transport like to the ground?
Cheers.

Re: Nuneaton
Following our drubbing at Notts County in Jan 1995 I got the train back to Leicester, don’t get me wrong I’d had a few pre and post match. I told myself don’t fall asleep whatever you do. Yep, woke up just outside Nuneaton. Went in a pub bought 17 cigarettes and went to get the train back to Leicester, got charged for another ticket too.

I can't think why you would want to go. Not a nice place. Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick and Stratford upon Avon are near by and lovely towns. Try them

And I was on that coach a couple of seats behind the window that went through. Most of it stayed intact until we reached the top of Manchester Road when it fell out onto the road. Still we won 3-2 courtesy of 2 from Peter Devine and a rare goal from Phil Malley.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 11:11 amI was stewarding the supporters club coach that got bricked as we left
Also did a track day at MIRA in Nuneaton 13 years ago where I managed to spin a Porsche GT2, destroy the chicane and come to rest on the grass in field

Re: Nuneaton
I had to go to Nuneaton for a training course 10 years or so ago.
On driving into the town I saw a large sign saying "YOU ARE ON CCTV FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY" and it told me everything I needed to know about the place, really.

We’ve just visited family in Coventry over Christmas from Western Australia. My two sons brought their girlfriends- two Aussie girls that have never been to the UK before. We went through Nuneaton. They thought it was the apocalypse.

Re: Nuneaton
Years ago I was up there on business for a few days, took the Mrs for company. Chanced on a pub in the centre only to realise after a while that it was a gays pub. Stayed in a B&B with thin walls and listened to the next door couple bonking all night. Don't go there if you're a eunuch!
Re: Nuneaton
Well this is one destination I never expected to see a ‘recommendations and things to do for a long weekend’ thread on.
Re: Nuneaton
I'd rather have a long weekend in Somalia

I think Gazza has a brighter future than Nuneaton, nevermind Gaza!
