All felt a bit village down there.

More like being in Trumpton than some allegedly cosmopolitan wonderland.

Dislike Everton but the siren then z cars theme is brilliant… last night it felt like an entrance to a village tea party

I'm assuming it was Semper Fidelis ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJQjMNsLyYY

It's a famous marching song and Argyles' motto is Semper fidelis due to the amount of military units based in Plymouth when formed in 1886. Royal Marines are based in the city and on the outskirts plus a large Royal navy presence as well - it's a tribute

I got that info from the link above, I had no idea either.

That brings back memories of marching round a large Tarmac square. Then standing still for hours!

Seeing the thread title I thought this was about the music played when their fans left early.

Definitely Semper fidelis by Sousa. Reminded me of the old days!

Whenever I hear that bit of music I see Clint Eastwood as Gunny Sgt Tom Highway and his Marine Recon platoon, returning from Grenada at the end of "Heartbreak Ridge" and him seeing his ex wife in the awaiting throng waving a little flag

I always liked March of the Gladiators at Portman Rd. One expected to see clowns come out rather than players

Sousa produced some brilliant marching music.

My favourite is the Liberty Bell March (better known as the Monty Python theme tune).

Perhaps this would be more appropriate bearing in mind Plymouth’s defending last night?

They’ve been doing it since the mid-60’s apparently. 60 years is a fair old time for a tradition to be cemented.
