A59 I can’t believe it

Cllr Keane Duncan, the council’s executive member for highways and transportation, said:
I am pleased to confirm that work to repair the A59 at Kex Gill, following the landslip on New Year’s Day, has been completed earlier than anticipated.
I’d like to thank road users and local residents for their patience, and the hard work and commitment of HACS and our own highways team for getting the work completed as safely and as quickly as possible.
This was the 15th closure since 2000 and emphasises the importance of delivering our £68 million scheme to bypass this problem area and avoid disruptive closures happening in future.
Yes another piece of good news follows yesterday’s excellent performance. Unless it’s not Eowyn proof

Good grief!
Are you sure it's not a wind up?

Thank goodness for that. I did the Ilkley, Askwith route this week rather than Pately Bridge.

Don’t forget though there's a storm due tomorrow Friday so don’t hold your breath for yet another detour.

A57 Snake Pass major landslip now been years with temporary traffic lights and still no sign of repairing it.
I have been navigating it now for probably 70 home games,
In the south east it would have been done in weeks. In the US in days. In China in minutes.

Absolutely. The proposed bypass at Mottram - a route I travel regularly over the Woodhead - has been proposed for 60 years and is now being thought about!! If it was in the south it would have been done years ago. Levelling up. Bah Humbug!!!

It'd be twice the mileage but only an hour and half on the M62.

My mobile maps app said there were many delays / motorway roadworks on Friday afternoon. It suggested Ilkley was the best route.

Keighley has a bypass (of sorts) but it's never a good idea to drive through Ilkley.

I'm not sure if things progress quicker in the south east

I live in Menston and I would NEVER ever go through Ilkley on the way to Burnley.
Otley-Menston-Dick Hudsons-Keighley to Steeton bypass-Cowling-Trawden (via the rec)- over the back road to Burnley!
I’m always home at 6pm (latest) on a matchday!
You are most welcome

If you live in Menston why would you go to Otley? surely you mean just Menston to Dick Hudsons.

I don’t. Another poster mentioned going from otley and through Ilkley.
I just go straight from the village and up onto the moors to Dick Hudsons.

I get it now, you were simply showing the other poster the route he should use, I incorrectly thought that you’d put your actual route which in effect it is but without Otley. Apologies, it was just the way it was written that threw me.

You do leave after 73 minutes which is probably why you get home so quickly…
