A horrible watch on a horrible night

I can’t recall a game that was as uneventful as that one.

Shame Parker and Farke weren't allowed to agree to a point each before the game and save us all the bother.

The Monday Club in the Miners was more entertaining.

Watched on TV but having been to other 0-0s this season I thought it was just more of the same. If rating the players I would say Defence 9 Midfield 7 and Attack 5. Unfortunately, and notwithstanding the Plymouth game, I can't see that changing much but hopefully the next run of games will prove me wrong.

Don’t normally agree with what he has to say but Simon Jordan summed up exactly my thoughts on Scott Parker and our season so far.

A dreadful spectacle. Lot of emphasis being put on the run of games we have coming up but our home record against similar teams is not that good.

The Sunderland 0-0 was a decent game, as good as 0-0 gets I think.

Last night, that was hard work, but loving the defensive framework - just a shame we are relatively toothless. Hopefully, he’s got his head into that and relief is on the way.

Totally agree with that, Sunderland was a very good game.

Hopefully it is the final stalemate!

I said it in December, we won’t lose again this season in the league.

Not sure if that gets us promoted but it sounds good!

Good & interesting report, but I took far more out of the evening.
The atmosphere was great I thought and worthy of a mention, especially the Leeds fans when Barnes went for a warm up.
The teams certainly brought about a stalemate, but that again was a credit to both managers who obviously sussed each other out.
I thought a point benefited us more than Leeds given the upcoming games.
I had a good night.

Glad to read your glass was half full. I am in your camp and thought it was a hard earned point particularly when you consider the difference in the two squads

Interesting to see reference to the Austria v West Germany , I mentioned that game in a text this morning.

Just before HT said to Mrs NL this is like watching paint dry and actually couldn’t wait for the whistle so I could get the kitchen looking ship shape.

You won’t be bothering with the 2nd half I get asked, of course I am , you never know. You always have hope that we can conjure up something but after an hour all hope had gone, we were never going to score or possibly create anything.

Both managers approach to this game has to be questioned (Sky Sports are probably questioning their decision for MNF) Leeds didn’t have much ambition and it didn’t help with the ref referee stopping play whenever a Leeds player dropped to the deck after the slightest of touches.

It doesn't say it all, away games count as well and in the last two months we've scored ten away from home and conceded just one.

In his post match comments Parker acknowledged that there is a lot of room for improvement in the “final third” and if I am interpreting Parkerspeak correctly he seemed to suggest we might shift up a few gears in the coming weeks to remedy this deficiency.

He's been saying that for months. It hasn't happened yet.

for a 0.0 the Sunderland game had it all but we could have lost it at the end and personally Leeds would have picked us off on the counter attack if we over committed with there pace, defence wise we are brilliant it's just at the other end , hopefully we might have a left winger in before window closes to give us some balance as Foster isn't the one ...

The big question is whether we would be happy with that performance if we needed a draw to go up. I think we would. So it is all context, get up, fine, and in the PL we should be able to afford difference makers who can play in a straight jacket. Don’t get up, well, not fine.

It has on a few occasions, but just not consistently enough. If we can find more threat going forward against midtable/lower end sides then we'll get automatic. Carry on as it is and the playoffs beckon. I'm not giving up hope yet as everyone at the club realises this is the major concern and real urgency in improvement is needed.

I've stuck up for him with these comments most of the season because I think he's set us up in a way that should have got us more goals at home, we haven't been that negative, just terrible in terms of end product.
Against Leeds however it was on the manager, he set us up to protect the 0-0 at all costs and hope we somehow knocked a goal, it was incredibly negative and I hope to never see a Burnley team set up like that at home again.
