Very sad. She had a birthday only a week or so ago. An absolute stunner years ago. This has brought a tear to my eye.
RIP

RIP Marianne an artist in her own right and former girlfriend of the greatest proponent of the 5 string Open G Guitar in the whole of the Rolling Stones. Erm after Mick Taylor obviously.

18 year old Marianne Faithfull played the Nelson Imp 60 years ago this year on the 8th of May 1965, just two days after her marriage to John Dunbar. Her first album
'Come My Way' had been released a month earlier, featuring her biggest hit of the 60s, 'As Tears Go By' penned by the Rolling Stones and Andrew Loog Oldham. The album featured songs from a multitude of writers including Burt Bacharach, Tony Hatch, Lennon and McCartney and included 'In My Time Of Sorrow' written by Jackie de-Shannon and Jimi Page.
Another great artist from the Sixties has left us.
RIP Marianne.
Her version of,
What Have They Done To The Rain is probably my favourite song of hers.

Iām surprised it took 14 posts before someone mentioned the mars bar. Come on we should be in the gutter within at least 4 or 5 replies. Must try harder UTC

This is a song from 2015. It's got a fair of radio play at the time on 6Music and brought her a whole new audience.

The highlight of her career must surely be her mournful wail on Metallica's 'The Memory Remains'.

Certainly lived life to the full. The Daily Telegraph started to prepare her obituary when she was just 26!

Didn't get the credit she deserved, for her work. Survived the 60s.

Marianne's rendition of "Working Class Hero" was brilliant. That song, IMHO, is Lennon's best ever song.

Great song but although Lennon had a challenging childhood unlike the others he was brought up in a posh part of Liverpool.

And for anyone interested her last album was recorded with Warren Ellis who has done much good work with Nick Cave. It's not to everyone's taste but Warren Ellis is always worth a listen for his keyboards. Now I'm going to sit in nerds corner.

I didn't know there was a connection until you mentioned it. Google tells me that Allan Clarke went out with Marianne/Carrie-Anne for a short while.
