Good move for Jay, he'll do well there, there's a chance he may be playing against us next season
Wrexham became my third team after watching the "Welcome to Wrexham" series. The two actors, one a Canadian, have done an immense job with the club, they appear to have a genuine feel for the club and town.

CT can you clarify match day squad rules, I’m under the impression that every match day squad a champ club has to have a player who was home grown at club for 3 years between the age of 18-21 and if you don’t then you can only name 8 subsClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 5:01 pmNothing in the article yet other than to confirm he's left us from Wrexham

The end of an era as they say.
And I'm sure he will get a warm welcome should he return at some point with Wrexham, after all, he's one of our own.
Good luck Jay.

Disappointed he won’t get a proper send off, but this is only bringing forward what was highly likely to happen in the summer anyway.
Good luck, Jay!

Re: ARTICLE: Jay Rod signs for Wrexham
Such a shame injuries set him back in his career because he was top class. Burnley legend for me but that’s a great move for him. All the best, Jay.

Has he left on bad terms?
Re: ARTICLE: Jay Rod signs for Wrexham
If we do end up playing them next season......let's hope Flemming, Foster or our new striker ? wrecks em !exilecanada wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 5:20 pmGood move for Jay, he'll do well there, there's a chance he may be playing against us next seasonWrexham became my third team after watching the "Welcome to Wrexham" series. Re: ARTICLE: Jay Rod signs for Wrexham
Well if true if he is on up to £15k/week for the next 18 months when he will be weeks away from 37-then he will have done well. Just over £750k gross/year isnt bad, is it?

Re: ARTICLE: Jay Rod signs for Wrexham
A fabulous move for Jay Rod .
However it makes our squad weaker with Barnes Foster and Flemming as our three remaining strikers .
If one gets a bad injury we will be down to the bare bones .
In my opinion we need another striker to add to the squad

Good luck - a good move for both parties.
Re: ARTICLE: Jay Rod signs for Wrexham
Woodley may mean it ended before the supporters could give him a send off.
We can do that belatedly when he is the half time guest maybe at the Oxford game? You never know.

Re: ARTICLE: Jay Rod signs for Wrexham
Rodriguez leaving us in no way makes us weaker. It’s a massive wage off the books, and a spent force no longer taking space on the bench, and for those reasons alone, I’m delighted with this news.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 5:56 pmA fabulous move for Jay Rod .

Good luck Jay, and thanks for all your efforts over the years. If it wasn’t for injury, maybe he could’ve been a top class England striker.
The last couple of years, I’m afraid he’s just been a leg iron, and this news today is the good news we needed two years ago.
I agree with your last paragraph totally. We need someone up top with real pace to make the best of our attacks. And not just a makeweight like Jay has been, I mean a first choice striker the most clubs in the division would love in their side.

I'd like to wish him the best of luck. Leaves me a bit torn though as I'm not an admirer of Wrexham (who have all-on to make an automatic place with Brum & Wycombe going well).

This is a good move for all parties.
It frees up a position in the squad and gets a relatively big wage off the books, whilst giving Jay a chance for further success in the twilight of his career.

Spot on Luppy….. some of the comments on here lack class regarding Jay.
Local lad, worked hard, good ethics, community work outstanding, and a fantastic footballer, who continues to squeeze everything he can out of his talent. Hopefully will come back to be involved in the club somehow, the youngsters can learn plenty from him.

He'll always be one of our own, but he needs to be playing regular, and hopefully he'll do that.

Wish him all the best, and a real shame we don't get a proper occasion to say goodbye.
The two goals in the "Capital Punishment" cup run, the winner in the Laws 4-3 v PNE, and particularly the goal at Old Trafford stand out in a career that's at least equal to anyone's at Burnley in my time watching.

Sad to see him go but thanks for some fantastic memories. In his prime Jay was a class act with skill , vision and power. In addition to the above mentioned goals I remember him scoring the ‘equaliser’ versus Spurs in the League Cup semi final. What a moment for him (and the rest of us of course).
Yes and he was one of our own which gave him much pride.
