Calm down folks. It’s not pretty and there’s improvement required, but we’re unbeaten in 17 and only 3 points off 2nd place.
There’s no need for “Parker in or out” polls on X or FAB members saying things like “we’re in a mess” and “automatic promotion feels like an absolute laughable aim”. That kind of thing is ridiculous.
It’s ok to not be a fan of the style of football (it’s not my cup of tea either), but some of the histrionics are the only thing “laughable” about what’s going on at the moment.
This level of impatience won’t help us if it filters onto the pitch on Tuesday after 20 minutes when we inevitably encounter another low block.

It’s not hysteria. That’s a strange take.
It’s frustration at Groundhog Day.
It’s boring. Really boring! And it’s happening all the time.

Yes, no panic yet. Once of a day, a draw away from home was a good result. Now, because we didn't score {admittedly again}, it's a bad result.
Early goal against Oxford and things will be rosey.

You don’t think starting an “in or out” poll or describing our automatic promotion chances as “laughable” when we’re in 3rd place is hysteria?
Hysteria is an exaggerated reaction to something. That’s precisely what I’m seeing in places tonight.

Unbeaten is fine when you’re picking up a decent amount of wins. We aren’t.

Why is Trafford taking an age to distribute the ball when we need to win to keep up with the top 2? This was with 15 mins left? Beyond frustrating
We are nailed on for the play offs, so we really need to start taking a few risks, changing the formation, anything. As this is just awful to watch.

It’s not hysteria. As for calming down, personally I'm very calm. In fact, after watching the Leeds game followed by today's game, I'm cured of my insomnia.

Spot on again. It was a pretty terrible watch and it was far from pretty but frankly we dont have enough real creativity in the final third when teams get behind the ball

Deeply frustrating that we seem happy to settle for 0-0 rather than risk losing by rushing (GKs an example) or bringing on Shelvey, Benson and (earlier) Barnes.
So frustration is the word. Hysteria to describe the reaction is also fair.
That game would have been lost in many other seasons and I don’t think a win under VK was guaranteed either. So I can see why keeping the unbeaten run and the defensive record felt important, for the spirit of the players.

Tend to agree with Jakub. It's frustration. Groundhog Day...is a good anology.
Three points off second place today...and that gap will grow as we continue to fail to find the net in 'must win ' games.
Unfair to blame Parker.
He witnessed the Alan Pace 'fire sale ' as he moved into his office at the start of the season. He was given only a few days to put a team together just before the window closed. It was a high risk strategy by Pace and it's looking like he's shooting himself in the foot as we head toward the lottery of the play-offs.

Maybe this no goals conceded thing has become the mindset. Difficult to break. Winning teams don't worry about conceding now and then. They believe they will win and just go for it.

This wasn't an isolated performance. We approached that game with zero intention to win it despite playing a team hovering just above the relegation zone. It was yet another painful watch

It’s not the creativity from individual
Players that’s the problem, it’s the tactical set up.
When recycle the ball back to Trafford from a corner or when we have the ball in the attacking third, time after time it’s tedious and slow. Even when we intercept the ball in midfield and we should counter with pace it ends up going wide then getting horseshoes around the pitch again.
I can see why he has spectacularly failed in the premier league so far in his managerial career. We would be no different under Parker if he gets us there, infact a performance like that today would see us concede a shed load to top quality players

If only we had somebody who could open a defence with a pass or a winger who could cut inside and make things happen.
Two subs we made. Two. And one of them was the 89th minute.
This isn’t safety first football. It is incredible levels of negativity against teams who we have four or five times the resources of.
I do not think we will go up automatically. And that’s now the first time I’ve thought that this season.

I think home performances I'd expect it, but since Norwich away we've been very good on the road. There's not much balance, relative silence on here after winning that game at norwich, the 2-0 win against Sheff United, Plymouth 5-0. The reaction is SO strong after a poor performance home or away, and we simply don't get a positive reaction after a good one. A draw away, on its own merit, even after a poor performance, is probably not as much the end of the world as being reported. The fans need something to shout about at the Turf, and to be fair it's not been great. We might get a little less nuttiness on here after an away draw then

Fair, but if we sign Marcus Edwards he is not going to play backwards constantly, nor can he be left on the bench. It wouldn’t be a safety first signing. In fact it will be the most exciting signing I can remember.
Seems to me the issue isn’t not wanting to win, it is Parker not having the players creative or spontaneous enough to do what he wants, and vitally, within the framework he needs them to play in (which is why Benson won’t be his preferred option).
It is why this window is vital.

Good point. I am sure that the whole team are now keen to maintain this defensive record and not just the back 4 and goalkeeper.

It's because it is so incredibly dull and it is not an isolated occasion. I think a growing number of fans are just fed up of it.

It’ll be interesting to see how Edwards is used if he does sign. It’s something of a marquee signing for a Championship club and you’d expect him to be starting before long. I can’t pretend I’ve seen much off him, but from what little I’ve read he’s not the type of player who is going to do much defensively, so you’d imagine the handbrake might need to be released slightly to get our moneys worth.
