Clean sheet records

Post by Steve-Harpers-perm » Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:16 pm

I know we broke a few today (according to Phil Bird) but anyone know if we’ll break any more records Tuesday night? I don’t want to miss a moment that will be talked about for decades to come.

I'm not sure if you're being entirely serious here.

Three points on Tuesday night is now far more important than breaking any records, in my opinion.

Don't worry, Oxford will score in the first couple of minutes, there'll be a huge sigh of relief and we'll beat them 4-1.

Records are more important this season.

I have heard Burnley council are considering open top bus parades for each record we beat.

There is absolutely no chance Parker allows an open top bus, that’s far to dangerous for him

Will this include the record for lowest home scorers in the whole of the league, which we apparently hold after today?

Or is it only records we want to talk about?

The problem we have is not the clean sheets we're keeping down our end, it's the clean sheets we're keeping at the other end of the pitch!

I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, whoa, here we go, Burnley's kept 10 in a row.

I can't wait until that one goes up around the Turf, just as we're kicking it around the back. Hairs will be up.

The 'defensive record' we have this season is, in isolation, very commendable. A strong defensive set up is an art in itself and there have been plenty of examples throughout the years. However, it's now become completely counter-productive. Emphasis appears to be to continue the outstanding defensive organisation at the expense of anything remotely resembling attacking intent. Very unusual season already but we're coming to a position soon where something really does have to change otherwise we may become the victims of intransigence from our manager; it's happened to managers here before him.

Give me a 6-5 win..I really couldn't give a hoot about these clean sheets, defensive record obsession. It means absolutely zero if you're not scoring at the other end and winning games..

Even a6-5 defeat. It would only cost us 1 point and it might break the mould of futility.
