Really good win

Played really well, Shelvey is going to bring a completely different element to our side. Has to start. Pleased Bauress got on again, again played well, kept it simple.

Another clean sheet

Hannibal was superb

Hopefully we avoid City !

Very good win. Some good performances especially 2nd half as you say Hannibal and Barnes. Also thought Sarmiento ran his socks off and was all over the pitch.

It was a perfect performance and formation, I hope we use that again. It seemed to work and the players seemed to thrive with it

Actually for once I wouldn't be crapping myself about letting 5 in against City. Famous last words lolski

Saints fans on their forum saying that was there strongest possible side.

Credit to SP for having the lads well organised in a new shape. 3 at the back might be a regular thing if we're playing PL footy next year.

Good win and some solid performances.
Hannibal & Barnes. Sarmiento with lots of pressing. No shots second half from Saints.
Shelvey steady but lacks mobility.

I watched the Turfcast pre game and the Saints fan thought they would go with there strongest side as they did that in the last round. I haven't checked but if that's their first team then it's staggering they have 9 points !

Edit: The set up was good, allowed us to break quickly. I'd like to see it this season never mind the PL !!

A good result considering we were playing with only 10 men.

I'll leave it upto you to decide who I thought might as well have stayed in Burnley.

Can't be - unless he mean't for just for the first 59 minutes, because Benson's replacement played well and scored the winner.

Why don’t you tell us all who you mean…

Very good result even with that many changes against a team that was pretty much full strength.

Very strong away performance, happy with the strength in depth we have.

Hannibal was a real work horse today, JonJo looked classy. If he's fit I'd put him in our midfield easily.. he's too assured on the ball not to.. he was one of the few looking to pass or turn forward when he had it.

They made five changes, including the goalkeeper, from the win at Ipswich. Left out were Ramsdale, Harwood-Bellis, Wellington, Gronbaek and Onuachu. The latter two came on as subs. Wellington and H-B were not on the bench.

It's a positive though Pete, you've actually spun it into a negative.

Shelves has never done a lot of running, preferring to let the ball do the work. Usually had two ways of playing, dependent on team orders.

1) Deep, central midfield, taking the ball off the back line and playing mid range to longer passes, or

2)Central midfield, a little further forward, supporting the front runners, looking to set up chances directly or indirectly.

Thought that was a very enjoyable watch. Some really good performances, great to see players getting minutes. A couple of the lads - Benson, Edwards - probably still a good couple of weeks away from being at their best but each showed enough to be excited about the run-in and the possibility of them playing a part.

No grumbles here!

Whilst Benson might not have torn the opposition to shreds, I thought he was very good in possession. I always feel like he will look after the ball and retain possession - which he did really well. There was also some good flashes from him in and around the box. All very promising considering how long he’s been out and 58 minutes is good miles in the legs.

Nothing will ever move quicker than the ball, I think he will help change our goal output.
