BBC 2, 10 pm tonight.

I would consider it a film not to be missed - but I'm sure some will disagree.

Dennis Hopper's finest, in my opinion.

I remember it being part of a BBC thing presented by Alex Cox on alt-indie-cult movies. Highly recommended

Watched it at the cinema when it first came out and it was my “most overrated film” at that point. Would love to see it 35 years on to see whether “young me” had taste or was on a bad day.

Interesting, as it wasn't particularly highly rated on release.

Our tutor showed it to us in college and most of us were thinking "meh" by the end of it. Then we spent the next month or so pouring over it, analysing it scene by scene, shot by shot and by the end of it, everything clicked and I saw the genius that was David Lynch. Probably my biggest influence in understanding the language of film.

Great film. I enjoyed it much more than when I first saw it nearly 40 years ago.

One thing i didn't understand is why the bent cop was dead but still standing up, near the end.

Blew my mind when I first watched it. Tremendous film. As a by-product it also made me listen to Roy Orbison’s incredible voice and music.

He's lobotomised rather than dead, IIRC.

One of my favourite films of all time.

Our church choir director was the organist at the church in the background of the scene where they go out joyriding and one of the girls is dancing on the car. David Lynch asked him to play during the filming. Sadly, ended up cut from the scene. He did say it was one of the more surreal moments in his life.

Love the quirky and surreal David Lynch films. Was years ago since I first watched Blue Velvet and have it on DVD (probably boxed away in the attic), so totally enjoyed it this time around as I'd forgotten most of it. Great to see Dennis Hopper at his finest and Jack Nance as one of his sidekicks. Also a very young Kyle McLachlan, Laura Dern and even Dean Stockwell, who I only remembered watching in Quantum Leap.

Also have Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks box set somewhere on DVD. And who can forget The Elephant Man!

Never been as confused watching a film for the first time than Eraserhead!
