Immature display

As always, a big game comes along and we decide to go far too over protective as the game goes on.

We got rattled and dragged into the game Preston wanted and by the end were just lumping it into the box from anywhere.
That was a poor performance that will be covered up by a refereeing display that was nowhere near as bad as made out. The decision on the Edwards non penalty looked like an incredible good spot for one .

We have great strength in depth and instead of looking to change things we just go like for like, leave on Anthony who I thought was atrocious along with Laurent who is literally there just for his physique.

I'm sure I'll get criticised but this isn't good enough. I don't care if we cruised by Hull and Plymouth with some lovely stuff. When the going gets tough this team goes into defensive mode and starts to lose the midfield, it's happened enough now to show it's not coincidence.

For me that front 3 has let this team down all season and will continue to do so. Each one of them has terrible numbers for the season but we continue to stick them out there week after week expecting something to change- it won't, unless we change that forward line we don't finish top 2. It's dead simple

Roberts was superb against Hull but today he passed back and sidewards far too much allowing Preston to get attacks going.

They did their homework, wouldn't expect anything less against a Heckinbottom team.

Do you mean from Parker? Not sure you undertand the movement ahead of him when he receives the ball.

Let's be real -

A proper goal scorer buries those chances, which has been the story of our season.

The pitch/conditions really did not suit our style of play either, which made for a scrappy game.

I said as the game goes on. We came out fine, but then end up scared of getting caught and drawn into a game we didn't want.

We stopped creating by the end because we'd completely lost our way. And yes we missed 3 sitters along with the one where Anthony inexplicably didn't pass to Foster which I'd count as equally as big a chance.
That's what happens when you keep playing players who have proven themselves unable to get the numbers required. How much evidence do we need?
Foster is the only one with an asterix who I'd say deserves more chances because of the injuries and he's looking a genuine goal threat. He'd be on thin ice as well though.

Flemming and Anthony aren't good enough for a top 2 team. We've seen it for long enough nowm

Preston have lost twice at home all season. Leeds, Sunderland, Rovers, Middlesbrough, West Brom all failed to win there. Let's not pretend this was a gimme.

We were the better team and created some good chances, the only thing that cost us was poor finishing. It was a much better performance than some we put in earlier in the season.

I like this Burnley team…. They look like a Burnley team should. They work hard, they’re a proper team, they’re good characters. Fine margins today too many big chances missed. But that’s football.

I understand exactly the movement, there's a fear across the whole team to come out of a framework to open the spaces needed for players to play and create chances. It probably does come from Parker yes.

Fully agree, was always going to be a scrappy game on a difficult pitch, their groundsman did a number on it, exopect more of the same next week.

I don't like Foster on the left and don't think he can be judged properly until he is played in his position.

We have a centre forward, but playing him on left wing, not really rocket science, SP at least needs to give him a go.

I wouldn’t call it an immature display, Anthony should set foster up after 7 minutes and he might score but would probably miss but then we should of easily been 3-0 up after 50 minutes and it’s then a comfortable game

Given the playing conditions (pitch) which doesn’t suit a team that wants to play football, we played fairly fine today, far better than the 0-0 at Portsmouth, for example.

Foster will get stick but at least he’s in positions to score, Anthony should have passed to him when free earlier on too.

Immature display. Really. A very tough place to go. They have a good record at home. Leeds and Sunderland failed to win there and Boro lost. We had to dig in against a big physical team on a cabbage patch of a pitch.

Possibly immature from the manager who just doesn't seem to want to make the tough (or obvious) decisions re selection
Flemming is not a No 9
Foster is not a wide left player
We can't afford both of them starting in those positions

Not the best view from behind goals, and not seen any replays, but shouldn't we have won by 3?

Yes. We got dragged into a pathetic game of kick and rush with a bunch of fouls by the end. We are better than that. Using the pitch as an excuse is a bit pathetic, it was fine for 60 minutes. We just stopped trying to play.

100%. 9/10 out of ten we bury one of those chances and come away with three points. Some fans don’t like the disciplined way we play. I personally can see how ultimately so many of these kinds of games a team ends up losing by opening up too much chasing a winning goal.

In summary that was a disciplined performance on an horrific pitch where probably 80% of the time we’d have come away with 3 points.

I think it's really strange that sp doesn't play foster in his strongest position at no9 it's not fair on the lad, and I know Fleming has scored a few but Everyone can see he is no centre forward but sp is persistent in his tactics and will not change the system or personel hence why we continue to struggle in front of goal . Should of scored today though.

Where have you got the 80% chance from? We are drawing far too many games 0-0 for it to be bad luck on the strikers part.

Well he creates most of chances - and if he wasn’t a Burnley player we would be far lower in the table. Nearly all our attacks revolve around him - and you want to send him to Bournemouth.

Some of the 0-0s can be on Parker, for example QPR, Derby and Portsmouth but today, Stoke at home, Boro away is poor finishing.

West Brom away 0-0 was a poor ref decision to disallow our goal

Hull away 1-1 Anthony air shots with last kick of game

Yes because our game plan revolves around him. That's sort of the whole point. We are relying on pne player who isn't good enough to create all of our chances.
I haven't said send him back anywhere, don't start him every week would be a start or play him for 90 minutes when he's having an absolute nightmare. We had Sarmiento and Benson twiddling their thumbs on the side. Parker wouldn't bring them on because he wants his favourite wingback on at all times just in case their full back suddenly turns into Cafu.

Preston are a hard working ugly bunch who make life very difficult. A draw here isn't too bad at all, but I think in the context of a season full of draws that should've been more, they get more frustrating as we approach the business end. Especially ones like this where we had the chances to win, and for me should've had a penalty.

The only criticism I have is perhaps that subs were 5-10 mins too late, and maybe one more needed too.You have to give players like Edwards time to get into the game.

I’m talking about this game.

Some of those 0-0’s, (Leeds for example) we created nothing.

I thought that was a decent performance and a good watch. Frustrating we didn’t win. But I think we’ve got a hard working, committed squad, who deserve our backing.

Awful performance again, far too negative. We WILL NOT go up automatically this season, we are not good enough. Not bringing in a striker in January has more or less confirmed that.

Lyle Foster - what can I say? Worst signing we’ve made bar Tresor? All that money spent on him and he’s absolutely dross.

Ref was crap.

Rant over.

Right but who keeps picking the same players that miss these chances and aren't getting anywhere enough in terms of goals and assists. You can't say it's not Parkers fault because the players he constantly picks can't score goals
He has options just doesn't use them. How long has Edwards been here now, is he really not ready to start a game after 2 or 3 weeks. It's just mind numbing negativity in terms of selection

We’d won back to back games with 2 very strong performances, it’s hard to make a case for changing the starting 11, and its certainly not the very hyperbolic ‘Mind numbing negativity’.

Jesus Christ. Weve been going round in this cycle all season. We played well against Hull and Oxford at home (still pnly scored 3 in total), so we are suddenly going to take that confidence into a big tough game and win comfortably. It's the exact trap that Parker keeps falling into.
Jadon Anthony has 3 goals and 3 assists, its nowhere near enough
Flemming has 7 goals as our main goalscorer. Why are we persisting with this, it's proven time and time again not to work.
We are going to get to the end of the season and say if only we'd scored in a few of those 0-0s. It really is stupidity at this point.

Edwards hasn’t played since November I think easing him in is the correct decision, foster has missed massive chances in 2 of last 3 games so if he starts again against Wednesday then yes it’s on Parker but he’s only just finally get options on the bench.

Brownhill our top scorer but Parker can’t finish the chance away at Boro.
