How are we so poor at attacking set pieces? Surely got to be the worst record in the football league. I don’t remember last time we scored from a corner, we offer zero threat from them. That Flemming/Humphreys cock up sums us up with set pieces.

I thought they were a bit better today

We have two dominant centre halves that rarely even acknowledge the ball in the other box. Attacking set pieces have been a real weakness for some time now. Mercifully we can defend them at the moment.

I specifically watched Esteve at a couple and he just stood still and let the oppo player boss him. Not good enough.

Flemming seems to have got away with that mix up. It was properly crap from him, how's he not anticipated that Humphreys might miss it, you learn that at under 8's

The Set Piece Coach was booked today, though I don't know if it was for a contravention of his job description.

Maybe our luck will change if the set piece coach remains in his seat.

I’ve given him a lot of credit for his defensive set piece organisation, but it’s a shame he wasn’t sent off and given a season long ban where our attacking ability is concerned.

When was the last time we scored from a corner? Luton?

Looked to me like Flemming claimed it but Humphreys went for it anyway and took it away from him.

Humphreys was ahead of him and jumped but missed the header, Flemming turned away failing to anticipate that Humphreys might miss it or it might still reach him. It's a poor piece of play.

Poor all round. Flemming just doesn't have a natural striker's instinct.

Seriously, does that include the two which were kicked straight out for goal kicks ?

My favourite was when we took a short corner, had the cross blocked then tried to put a long throw in the box

They’ll add it to the long list of things Burnley fans think Burnley fc are **** at on a football pitch, despite being high in the table, breaking records and losing 5 in 102 games at this level. Either the club have got it wrong, or the team and its facets aren’t as bad as too many fans think.

There were a couple of wide ones which were good balls in.
I'm forgiving CJs effort

I’ve noticed this before and it happens so often, I’m wondering if it’s intentional
He’s our tallest outfield player, so if he’s taking the attention of the opposing strongest defender, then it should, in theory, leave our other players with “weaker” markers

I’ve often thought we should have Esteve just inside the 18 yard box and coming running in from our corner, we never use his height enough in these situations.

Yes, I think that's the plan.

Yes, Dara O'Shea.

Its because we dick about with a different kicker each time. Most teams, particularly in the PL have someone with a very cultured foot and he takes the great majority of these. Plus we dont have anyone who can bend a ball over or round the wall. Hannibal, Anthony are not the answer, neither is Brownhill-we might as well give the opposition possession, and yes we need to attack the ball-how many games have we seen Flemming simply totally miss connection when it was his ball

It is this season that counts. Beaten twice in 33 games-not scored in 13 games of which 11 were in our 14 draws and it is our home form that will in all probability see us fail to get automatic with 8 wins and 8 draws at home averaging 2 points per game marginally better than our away form which thus far is 1.94/game. The away form is slightly better than our two seasons promoted under SD but poorer than 2022-23 but then would be hard to emulate that season. SD's promotions saw us get 51pts at home and that I suggest is unlikely to be beaten unless we win all our remaining 7 home fixtures.
Afraid the portents are not good IMO for automatic promotion and playoffs are a real lottery; it is more likely the draws rather than defeats that will cost us-but with 13 games to go it is still in our hands-well Traffords, the rest, feet and heads!!!

Play-Offs are ok for this Burnley Team:
Home Semi-Final: 0-0
Away Semi-Final: 0-0
Penalties: win 1-0
Final: 0-0
Penalties: win 1-0
Easy

In all probability? It’s a toss of a coin between she’d husband Burnley…. If you want to bet “in all
Probabilities” on toss of a coin’s then be my guest.
The away form, that you put as being slightly better….. isn’t it the best in the whole football league?

On limited evidence this is another reason why Edwards should be starting.

It is which is why I am suggesting we will be undone by our home form in missing out on a top two finish.
We are heading at present for 91pt finish and I think that is play off territory this season; but who knows?
