One of those players that clearly looks too good for this league.

What a signing.

Would like to see him Foster and Anthony start
They will take some stopping

I'd never heard of him until three weeks ago.

Seriously talented. Got us out of the mire with a top-class goal.

Excellent recruitment.

Too good for the level we're at. Something of a coup he's playing for us and just a shame we didn't have him 10 games earlier. Other teams will soon target him though.

Head and shoulders. The low centre of gravity is a joy to watch. Benson will raise his game now as shown. Could be the 2 to get us up. Pure class

Agree with everything that has been said...has a Messi-like low centre of gravity, pace and a beautiful touch. Blatantly at a higher level than the Championship...if we have to go up to sign him then it's a major reason for wanting to get promotion !

Yes, was thinking about his skill/ability level, and Defour
was the nearest that came to mind, not particularly the same kind of player, but certainly his equal in talent.

I’d play him on one wing and Benson on the other. That should really scare defences.

He looks really special and I’m really excited by him.

He seems to be looking all the time for the goal of the season- just hit it first time young man.

I think we now need to be winning games, can’t risk nil nil’s, I would love to see him and Fleming up front together.

I said to the other Benalmadena Clarets it was Messiesque how he went past the defenders and finished it.

He’s a very talented lad. The goal was fantastic and the ball sticks to him.

I’m not sure we’ll see him, Anthony & Pires in the same side again tho. We were wide open at times.

Poch called him a Messi-like player and we saw why today, it was Spurs youth coach Williams who called him the English Messi. Quite a burden and the career seemed to be going like other prodigious talents like a Sancho, whose head doesn’t seem as talented as his feet. I really hope Marcus has decided to make a real push at a vital age, in 12 months if he does really well (and we have gone up) an England cap isn’t out of the question (in a position England are strong, I think he is potentially good enough to be a sub for players like Saka but just potentially so far).

I don't think those 3 per se were the problem. I think the adjustments all over the pitch disrupted combinations. Anthony and Pires haven't worked together in months.

Biggest thing for me was that we needed the outball threat Foster offered. Before that, with Edwards, Anthony and Flemming all wanting ball to feet we were far too congested and played into Wednesday's press.

He gave Roberts no help at at all. Anthony isn’t the most combative player either and Pires is susceptible to pace.

If you’ve got two wingers who aren’t particularly adept at coming back the other way and a full back who struggles at times, you’re going to have an issue against some sides. I suspect one of the things Parker liked about Foster on the left was his work rate and competitiveness out of possession.

Edwards & Anthony are definitely going to give us more as attacking options than Foster and Anthony, but I’d be worried if Humphreys isn’t going to feature again any time soon.

I totally agree

Was watching the game with a mate last night and he was shocked when I told him our clean sheet record. Probably shows that our defence isn’t quite as good as we think and that the system Parker has played this season has been to protect us.

Last night Parker was definitely trying to let the handbrake off and get the win but I do agree I think that’s the first time this season I have seen Roberts in particular have so many 1 v 1s

Sublime footballer, way too good for this level. Could be the difference between play offs and automatic promotion. Should have been awarded a penalty at Deepdale last week imo. He is a genuine game changer and certainly good enough for the prem if we get there.

Most defenders are susceptible to pace 1v1. Pires was pretty shaky in the first half last night against a very talented kid in Gassanga but he was fine in the second half. Anthony may not be someone who launches into tackles but he's pretty diligent and works hard defensively. Edwards may not be the best defensively but he's worth the risk.

Our biggest problem in the first half was in transition. Wednesday kept picking us off because it got too congested and we were a bit lightweight at the top end of the pitch, which left the back four exposed. Get the combinations right and I think we'll be fine. We were much better for Foster and
Brownhill's athleticism.

Edwards is way too good for this level. Superb last night and made something happen virtually every time he got the ball. A real ‘edge of your seat’ player.

Agree with this 100%, and it was frustrating listening to fans moaning from about 5 minutes in when it was clear that that the team needed a bit of time to adjust and work out how to handle the changes.

Edwards was great and clearly has to play, but a consequence of that was breaking up the effective Roberts / Anthony partnership which has been sound defensively and generally key to getting us up the pitch when in possession.

Edwards doesn't track back like Anthony does which led to Laurent being pulled out to the right a lot to cover. That led to Hannibal and, in turn, Flemming dropping deeper to plug the gaps in midfield and of course we looked out of shape defensively and struggled for an out ball in transition.

For a team that has been built around a certain structure, and specific patterns of play, this was always going to be an adjustment and maybe a bit of patience will be needed at times while they work it out.

Has he got a chant yet? I couldn't hear anything last night.

I'll offer up a nice, simple two-word chant, good singalong, can keep going as long as you like and, as far as i am aware, original:

"Marcus Edwards"

To the chorus of Panic (Hang the DJ).
