Each to their own and all that but not overly keen on modern IPA's - way too hoppy and often too chemically generally for me.

I prefer a golden ale. or a traditional (good) bitter.

I think my favourite beer of all time was Wadsworth 6X, particularly on draught- a little darker than my normal taste but loved it.

I don't drink as much beer as I used to but had a bottle of Blandford Fly today and it was blood lovely!!!

What are you favourites and recommendations?

Theakstones 0ld Peculiar on draught is one of my favourites but I like most of the vocation beers in their bar/brewery at Hebden Bridge

My current favourite cask ales are Salopian lemon dream , Fyne ales Jarl and osset White rat , with titanic plum Porter for afters

One of the pubs near me in Leeds has got hold of a new Spanish imported beer called Cruzcampo. Probably not available yet in Burnley but its very good and if you're out somewhere like Leeds or Manchester give it a go, you wont be disappointed

Had beer called Sputnik in Leeds once. That was really good. Think brewed by Northern Monk but I couldn’t swear to it.

There's nothing wrong with an old fashioned Bass or Thwaites or Theakston's Best.

Chemically generally - chemical taste. Maybe it's a personally thing but when something is too hoppy it tastes artificial to me.

I love the bottled bavaria from Tesco. 1.55 per 500ml bottle and it goes down a treat.

Thinking of core range beers that are relatively readily available, Rivington's 'Never Known Fog Like It' might be the best I can think of.

I think all independent breeers do in the main cracking ales so it's down to personal cjoice.
I like the Reedley beers, I like the Bowland beers but a beer I always get if its on is Landlord or Boltmaker.

Much prefer cask beer and a liking for Blonde bitter.

Have to give a shout though for "Wobbly Bob", a deep amber ale @ a scary 6%

Think my favourite is Loweswater Gold, and is the resident beer at The Mortal Man pub, Troutbeck near Windermere. Cracking pub in a glorious location.
Other good shouts are White Witch and Ice Witch from Moorhouses, Boxer Blonde from Bowland and another shout for Jarl, which I enjoyed at the Swan with Two Necks, Pendleton.
It’s a great time to be a beer drinker.

My favourite pub still sells all their beers straight from the keg. It's so much better. Generally there's one over 5%, my favourite is Exmoor Beast.

Can't go wrong with any of the blonde beers produced by Reedley Hallows, Bowland or Moorhouses breweries.

My favourite porter has to be Titanic plum porter, always goes down well

Aldi do a very good 'coffee stout' in 500ml bottles for about £1.69

This reads like a list of my favourite beers !!! Vocation Bread & Butter is absolute nectar to me.
A niche addition but I visited a pub in Ramsbottom, the Holcombe Tap. last week and their house Holcombe Ale was marvellous.

Try a Ruddgate Ruby, lovely pint brewed in York.

A nearby pub has it on permanent, love a walk out therein the summer to taste a couple.

One of my favourite hiking pubs, the Coverbridge in Wensleydale, had it as a guest beer on a recent walk much to my delight.

I there’s a few Sheffield area residents on here.. worth trying one of the Bradfield Brewery beers. Farmers Blonde in summer watching cricket and Belgian Blue at non league football in winter.

Bank Top Brewery, Bolton do a nice bitter called Flat Cap. Moorhouses Pendle Witch at The Taps in Lytham is a great pint but they often run out.

Farmers is on draft in the Thatched pub in Poulton permanently. A great pint and a great pub, well worth a visit if anyone is ever in Poulton.

Joseph holt trailblazer stout is a good pint used to stock it at the top club in cleverleys replaced with a crystal gold which is more of a lager or anything Jennings which they are on about bringing back.

It hasn't been brewed for quite some time but Timothy Taylor's Porter is my all time fave beer. The best pint was served at the Staff of Life, Todmorden.
Beyond that, Salopian and Ossett do some great blond beers, Ossett in particular can be found at the swan with two necks. A trip to the Rivington brewery is also recommended

Lots of lovely northern beers being identified. Living in the Warks/Leics area most of my life two good beers I would recommend are Purity Ubu or Mad Goose, and Hook Norton Old Hooky, or Hooky Gold . Both are relatively small breweries in Warks but starting to be sold wider afield

My old man has an allotment that shares the Knowle Spring with Timmy Taylor's in Keighley.

It made me realise how important the water is in brewing, you can actually get the taste of Taylor's ale just by drinking the water.

They used to serve Pendle Witch in the Wetherspoons on Manchester Road but since that closed I’ve not seen it anywhere. Shame as it is a very nice drop of ale.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about Jennings when I read this thread. Some good pints in 'The Twa Dogs' in Keswick back in the 70s.

Blonde - Bowland Gold. Glorious in the summer, although another mention for Loweswater gold here.

Stout - Marshmallow Unicorn from Irwell Works. Tastes like drinking a mars bar.

Belgian - Kwak. Rich, strong beautiful especially when served in a mini yard of ale glass.

The "imported Spanish lager" Cruzcampo is actually brewed in Manchester and Madri is brewed in Tadcaster, near York.
