Ticket Office refused to sell tickets to Norwegian Clarets

I received a Tel call at 4pm Friday, from my Norwegian friend. Saying 2 supporters had travelled over from Norway, for the Friday night game. They had gone into the ticket office to buy tickets and were refused, on the basis they could have been Sheffield Wed supporters, trying to get in the Burnley sections. Their English was perfect, so it wasn’t a breakdown in translation. Their appearance ie looking troublemakers, or being drunk or drugged up, couldn’t have further from the truth.
I wonder how many people turning up, just to take in a game, have had the same problem and not seen the game.
Lucky for them, I had 2 spare tickets, for the game.

Have they not been on games before and set up a clarets number? Why didn't they purchase tickets before they flew over?
No way I'd be paying for flights and accommodation then leave my tickets until I arrived hoping they were some left.
It sounds harsh by the club but it is also correct in what they are saying, what if they were Wednesday fans? The club would then be slated for allowing away fans in the home sections again.
I'd suggest they just plan better in future unfortunately but glad they got to see the game.

You can’t really criticise the T/O in those circumstances. Perhaps they should have ordered the tickets in advance or at least spoken to the T/O several days before.

An argument with two sides without doubt as bumba has highlighted. And I’m not sure why they didn’t buy in advance.

Completely agree with bumba and no way I’d be taking flights without arranging tickets.

Glad to hear they managed to watch the game on this occasion but far more important that the club do not allow away fans in to home ends, in my view.

Well done to the club on this occasion, I think.

I don`t really agree with it but thats the way its gone these days. I wouldn`t expect to turn up anywhere on the day and get in, even in the lower leagues. Hopefully the club are as strict next season if we`re in the Prem.

I’ve been to loads of games abroad and you buy tickets based on each clubs policy. Some are tougher than others but key is planning ahead.

I'm amazed at this especially with the amount of Liverpool and Man U fans they've let into the home ends over the last few years.

Probably all got clarets numbers by now. In Dyche`s last season the amount of scousers in the Bob Lord when we played Liverpool and Everton was a joke.

Harty - But that's why they're implementing this strict policy now Damned if they do and damned if they don't!

Don't understand why, if Norwegian Clarets, they didn't purchase in advance - or even on the day and download?

Some of that could be clarets buying and reselling tickets for a profit, but it wouldn’t surprise me if you’re right - local fans of other teams registering for clarets numbers just to go to certain games.

There’s nothing more that annoys me to be honest. I’d like to see the club put much stricter rules in place if we get back to the premier league.

For example, must have purchased a ticket this year and an away ticket in the last 3 years to be eligible to buy. With claret IDs of any away fans identified in home ends to be cancelled.

I’d rather an empty seat than away fans celebrating in our stands, and that’s saying something.
