Which is worse in your opinion. The price of things going up or the smaller size and amount of things which they never advertise.

For example. Anchor and Lurpak butter is a 200g pack as opposed to the standard 250g. Small packets of crisps literally have about 10 crisps in them now. You have to buy 3 packets to make it worthwhile.Cornflakes used to be 500g and 750g packets now they are 450g and 670g. Basically a price increase by the back door.

Not exactly helping the planet with the extra packaging being used for smaller quantities.

Personally I hate shrinkflation.

Shrinkation is legalised fraud.

Inflation is just economics - I say “just” but not in a way that minimises its impact. The published inflation rates do not tell the full story as to how rising prices impact the less well off in society. Like most things it’s become a political tool which can be used to disguise what’s happening in the real world to the majority of the population.

But agree shrinkation is one of those things that you noticed a few years ago when the snicker bar got a bit smaller and it’s now become a whole marketing strategy for the big corporates - it’s visible on virtually every supermarket aisle. The company who make all the tubs for Celebrations are a blackburn firm. I recently saw a photo of the new size of tub compared to the old one - it’s absolutely ridiculous. They know that people will not pay 50% more in a price increase so they reduce the size by this amount and they get to basically the same end from a margin point of view. And this is just allowed to happen because the very people who are supposed to protect consumers are the same robbing barstewards who sit on the boards of these multi nationals.

I'm surprised that some of you still eat Wagon Wheels. Next, you'll be telling us you buy Flying Saucers, White Mice and Curly Wurly bars while complaining that they no longer cost 10½p, like they did in the 1970s.

Mars bar,back in the day,lasted you all day,the chocolate was that thick,it hurt your teeth to bite it ,A MARS A DAY MADE YOU WORK REST AND PLAY,On the tele !

I've never thought there was a pint in a beer can, they never seemed to fill a pint glass

I’m more concerned that some people think it’s normal to eat 3 packets of crisps in the 1 sitting. And we wonder why we’re a fat country!

The thing is. With the correct exercise and lifestyle eating 3 packets of crisps could be ok. I walk a minimum of 5 miles a day. Play football twice a week and I'm fit and healthy. And if I get a multi pack of mini cheddars you can guarantee I'm going through 3 packs in less than 5 minutes .

Being fat is as much about your lifestyle as it is what you eat.

Turf Moor can look like a fat camp on matchdays. Cutting some of this crap down to size a bit might reduce the amount of panting 25 stoners lumbering down Harry Potts Way at 10 to 3.

Beer cans have always (since late 90s) been 440ml or 500ml, very few were pint cans (568ml) and were always much more expensive.

They labelled crips and chocolate bars as 'sharing', when I don't think anyone ever shared them, just ate them all.

Too many people spend too long sat down and eating unhealthy food, then say its offensive to call them fat or lazy

Companies should have to display clearly when they shrink items. Some companies should also stand up and state they're increasing prices and not shrinking like other deceitful places.

This isn't a new thing. I remember penny arrow bars in the seventies shrinking over time from about 9 inches to about 4. It happens. There are only two things we can do about it. One is to complain and expect the government to check every item in our shopping basket; the other is to try and be independent grown ups and do it for ourselves.
