Barrow v Carlisle tonight - currently 0-1 to the bottom of the league CUFC.

Blimey - remember my first ever away game was Carlisle back in the early seventies. Bottom of Division 2 not looking good for NW clubs either.

Managed to tick Barrow FC ground off when we lost the Lancashire Cup there before Xmas.

Awful game football wise but exciting and unpredictable.

Ground looks full too.

Watching...I have a bit of a soft spot for both but I wouldn't mind a win for Carlisle tonight as they need a win more than Barrow.

Nice move for the goal and well taken.

It does …. Carlisle have always been a footballing outpost and some top fans - many I’ve met watching England.

Barrow back in the football league ….

Agree … Carlisle need it more than Barrow.

Just about to KO

Always felt like Carlisle have a bit of potential and the city could sustain a club at a higher level. Surely there's a big catchment area up that way?

I think there is. Weren't they at Wembley not too long ago for a play off final and their following was very impressive?
There's definitely potential there.

They were once top of the old first division in September 1974....albeit after only 3 games. Come may they were relegated.

So that’s why you were there? Ground ticking. That was only my second visit, the other was for a reserve team friendly in 2012.

I saw us play them home and away that season which turned out to be their only top flight appearance. We won the game at the Turf 2-1 by scoring right at the death and contrived to lose the away game towards the back end of the season 4-2. I'm not sure how many games they actually won that season without looking it up, but I do know it was embarrassing losing to a seriously struggling team destined for the drop. It was a night game and there was trouble in the car park after too

Not much tip-tappy footy in Barrow tonight.

Only a brief cameo but Joe Bevan showed some nice touches in his 7 or 8 minutes on the pitch. Had something about it.

Carlisle are one of the great under achievers of the league. Really ought to be a stable league one level club with their support. Credit to Barrow, they've done really well in recent years.

Carlisle hate us and class us as their main rivals.

Lived in Penrith for a while, I can’t stand em.

I will be hoping Barrow win this. Support for the former Lancastrians.
