Impressive stuff. That Millwall game was properly grim and it’s fair to say we put it behind us! Seems yonks ago.

Five wins and a draw from the last 6 too. Stringing those wins together.

Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Without doubt an impressive record even though at times our football hasn't
been that great to watch.
Nevertheless it's what we do over the next 12 or so games that counts.
Match or better Leeds or Sheff. Uniteds' results and we should be in there with a great chance
especially if we beat Utd. at the Turf.
I think even if we don't manage one of the top two spots then, barring an absolute
total collapse we should surely make the play offs.
So at least two if not three more games.
Not sure I'd feel that confident about winning the play offs having said that.

Gotta remember too the defeats were both extenuating circumstances, half the players downing tools for one, and our only fit striker not allowed to play for the other.
It’s a great run, one that has to keep going with wins not draws now. Highly likely to be an all time record points for 3rd.

Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
We have some proper helmets who watch our games, I am not going as far as saying supporters as they are on every single match thread bitching so clearly never at games.
Every match thread you read has the same people saying stuff like "I can't watch much more of this" "I am bored" "we are s**t" and other boring comments, turn your tv off then.
There has been an element of entitlement been visible for most the season and it is never clearer when it is demanded we win every game while playing amazing doing so. It is only a couple of games since we had someone claiming Boro will finish above us (just the 21 points behind us now)

Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Brilliant work, and averaging over 2 points per game is a very good achievement at this level. Let's hope it continues to the end of the season - 11 cup finals left.
Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Agreed. I can only assume those unhappy were expecting 100 plus points. Personally I think 90 plus, best defence in history in this league, 12 clean sheets and unbeaten in 20plus games is more than you can ask for and any other season would result in automatic promotion.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 8:06 amWe have some proper helmets who watch our games, I am not going as far as saying supporters as they are on every single match thread bitching so clearly never at games.

Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
We’re currently on target for 93 points which was the total in both Dyche promotion seasons. Not sure it’ll be enough to win the league but we’d be unlucky not to get at least second place.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 8:30 amBrilliant work, and averaging over 2 points per game is a very good achievement at this level. Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
23 unbeaten was enough for SD and we won the division fairly comfortably. 23 unbeaten this time round wouldn't even guarantee us third place I fear.
Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Leeds and Sheffield Utd have really kicked on in the past half dozen games whereas we've fairly much continued in line with the season. Big question is obviously whether they can keep on doing that.
It's going to be very tight, could even see our goal difference coming into play.

Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
I'm glad the issue of number of clean sheets has gone now. I never like seeing us concede, but it does mean that we can hopefully not worry too much about protecting that record chase and actually open up our offensive play a little more. The last few games there has been so much focus on clean sheets, its been distracting.

Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Part of the reason for that is when the 23 run occurred, assuming we make it and beat or draw with Luton. The 22 game run under VK ended at home and against QPR who were in the bottom 4 at the time (would have been 20th had Reading not been deducted 6 points). Similar to Luton this weekend-just had their first win in 11-should be a walk over but we all know it wont be, not usually at this stage of the season. It is what makes the game at this level so knee trembling as anything can happen.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:12 am23 unbeaten was enough for SD and we won the division fairly comfortably. 23 unbeaten this time round wouldn't even guarantee us third place I fear.
Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
I didn’t see so much focus on keeping a clean sheet v Wednesday however you are right , posters can now move on from the 0-0 obsession.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:45 amI'm glad the issue of number of clean sheets has gone now. Whoever created the song above deserves a medal, excellent work.
Expect every game now will be hard fought tussles with plenty of heart stopping moments.
Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Never understood why plenty on here wanted Leeds to take points off Sunderland recently. I want to keep it bunched up as much as possible and a win for Sunderland would have been the ideal result. That way we have two chances to get promoted rather than just fighting for second place.
Just because Leeds play more attractive football doesn't mean they are more deserving of promotion. The table never lies and whoever finishes in the top two are the rightful candidates to go up.
The only argument this season against that is if we go up by one point in front of Sheff United because of their two point deduction.

Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
They haven’t really kicked on better than us though. Leeds have dropped 2, Sheffield 3 and us 4 in our last 6 games. Not a big difference, especially considering our draws had things like the stone wall penalty at PNE not given (the one where pundits said it wasn’t but every qualified ref said it definitely was).aggi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:36 amLeeds and Sheffield Utd have really kicked on in the past half dozen games whereas we've fairly much continued in line with the season. Sheffield have been stuttering every game like we did last night. Leeds, I accept, look good.
I do agree though, it will be tight, and goal difference could matter. Whoever loses a game or two between us and Sheffield will miss out.
Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Saw a couple of tweets from Leeds fans, they are twitching and looking over their shoulder at us, not Sheffield.
Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Ah yes, I was looking at an out of date form table which hadn't updated for last night but had a draw in as the sixth game.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:58 amThey haven’t really kicked on better than us though. Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
Looking at Leeds remaining fixtures. They've got some tricky away ties pretty much all the way through. Portsmouth, QPR, Luton, Boro, Oxford and Plymouth all away. Theyll all be near full houses probably and with some tasty atmospheres, will get the home teams up for it. We saw it ourself away at Portsmouth.

Last six games we’ve won 5 and drawn 1, they’ve hardly ‘kicked on’ beyond what we’re achieving.aggi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:36 amLeeds and Sheffield Utd have really kicked on in the past half dozen games whereas we've fairly much continued in line with the season. Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
I think that’s overly optimistic on how many points the top four will get from here on in. It certainly gets more difficult in the last ten or so matches, especially against teams fighting for their lives at the bottom. I don’t think Leeds will get over 100 points and I don’t think Sunderland will get anywhere near 90.Spijed wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 1:03 pmInteresting analysis from Sheffield United supporter:

Re: 22 games unbeaten in the league
With regards to goal difference I can't see how Sheff United could make up twelve goals in the eleven games left, especially as it only becomes important if we have the same points.
It's a done deal that we get promoted if we finish on the same points.

For comparison the 23 undefeated was 17 wins and 6 draws, this would be 14 wins and 9 draws if we win on Saturday.

Long may it continue.
The manager, coaches and players have done very well when you consider the upheaval before the first transfer window closed.
We're tucked in nicely behind the leaders waiting too pounce when they slip up.......
