Marcus Edwards...

...is the difference maker!
If we had him or a player of his quality after losing Odobert and the rest, then I'm pretty sure we'd be top of the table, with many of those 0-0s being 1-0 or even 2-0 wins in our favour.
His wing play was fantastic today and he seems to have formed a great partnership/understanding with Connor Roberts down our right hand side... Long may it continue.
UTC!

Far too good for the Championship.

I’ve mentioned on another post that the last 5 goals have all been scored from inside the 6 yds box ,it must be that the quality of crosses has improved.

I haven't fat checked this but this just appeared on twitter:
Since Edwards started playing we've averaged 3 goals per game in the Championship.

I've said this most of the season.
The few games where the crossing has been decent we have won easily.
Now players are wanting to get in the box more because they know there is a good chance the ball will pass through

Imagine the feeling of relief a full back has after being up against Edwards for 60 minute and seeing his number come up to be substituted
Only to see his replacement is Benson

You can tell sometimes that he’s just getting back into full match mode, but he has that added extra - little burst of pace, lightning quick feet, that Championship defenders can’t cope with.

Certainly posed less problems, so was probably relieved, yes.

Benny still looking a bit fragile but I reckon he had at least 2 straight arms into his face.

Not sure they were straight arms, but certainly brushed his face but only seen them live so might be mistaken.

He looks a level above anyone else on the pitch. He is still getting to full match fitness. Great management by Parker to take him off after an hour.
I still gave him a 9 on the ratings. Fantastic player who I hope stays fit until the end of the season.

It is looking like a big signing for us. All of a sudden we are scoring more goals. He doesn't just dribble, he thinks about what he is doing and plays with his head up. A class player that can spot a short pass too. We are lucky that he worked with Parker at Spurs and wanted to play for him. It is a steal to get him at this level.

It isn’t true.
It is 3.33 goals per game *
* Since Edwards ‘STARTED’ games. He only played 20 minutes at PNE and still had a stone wall penalty denied.

When he has the ball in the penalty area he just has that extra skill to turn a good chance into a bl00dy good chance. One of his passes in the first half today was stunning!

What he’s done as much as anything is free Anthony. We’ve now got two very effective wide men and it’s a problem for any side. Anthony’s getting slightly less attention from the opposition and he’s on his preferred side.
Anthony can’t have far off doubled his assists in the handful of games Edwards has played.

As I said a couple of weeks ago. Admittedly he wasn't at his best at Cardiff but some of the rubbish posted about his performance since has been laughable ( a victim of Parker essentially)

Think he made a meal of them both tbh, wish he'd just get on with playing football. No need to be play acting at 3 nil up.

Edwards is the most exciting signing I can remember a Championship side ever making. He is a mid table Premier League player.
I thought he was poor today until the red card - then he got more space, came into the game and starting causing chaos. What surprised me, and them, was how often he went to his weaker right foot on the touchline.
He was also gesticulating a lot to teammates and it was obvious they don't yet know each others runs. That implies there is a lot more to come.
Edwards, Anthony, Brownhill, Laurent and CJER suffer from the blessing (and curse) of being English. That means they will have 2 weeks on the training ground (with Flemming and Pires too) to learn each others moves while the rest swan off on internationals. I’m sure they will get a few days off but that is sure to be a benefit.
With luck, much more to come.

Both were fouls that the ref missed especially the second.

This, he seems to come alive when anywhere in or near the box, must be a nightmare to defend against

Brilliant signing. Credit to the club and Parker for getting him here. The kind of profile this style of play needs. The trick now is keeping him fit for the entire run in!

He is a class act at getting to the byline, and even then running along the bye line towards the goal, then delivering low crosses that are almost impossible to defend

Your point about 'playing with his head up' is spot on. If you watch the Clarets Uncut from yesterday's game there is an excellent example.of this in the first half when he has the ball comfortably at his feet, and the defender probably where he wants him. Watch his eyes looking in all directions for that momentary lapse of concentration from the opposition or a run from a teammate. Classy player.

He runs into the box with purpose, and because of his quick feet defenders back off and don’t challenge. The amount of times we’re getting to the by-line now and cutting it back, whereas previously were we’re checking back too early, means we’re causing a lot more problems.
