Gavin Ward once again proving to be an absolutely horrific ref. Hopefully we appeal the CJ red, just looked like a trip and certainly not violent which is what he was sent off for.

Parker sent off for no doubt telling Ward he was an absolute dick all night

Crap night

Really crap night, yeah.
Only bright spot was Bristol pegging the Blades back to 1-1 FT.

Assuming CJ is out for three games - it’s Worrall having to play that concerns me. He needs to step up.

Never a red card in a month of Sunday’s. Surely gets overturned.

Reading Sheff U fans reactions to their performance and seems they were very poor tonight, they don’t seem to be looking forward to the derby.

No way will that be overturned,it’s classed as retaliation so a straight red.

Played a side in the top 6, played fairly well, certainly weren't bad tonight, first 20 wasn't great but we got back into it.

No way I’m having that’s a red card. Surely that gets overturned on appeal? I can understand a booking at best but he wasn’t violent at all.

First 20 was very poor, we started like we thought we could just turn up and go through the motions.

It certainly wasn’t a performance to suggest our foot was flat to the floor, far from it.

Is it not a 4 game ban if we lose the appeal. The commentator was right-our discipline at the end was very poor. Could prove costly for our club

TBF, it was stupid from CJ and no need to follow him. But it's his 1st mistake all season, albeit a potentially very costly one.
Very poor tonight and not one to criticise SP but agree with Vegas in that the subs and the way we tried to change the game was poor. WBA had sussed us out; it needed something different to win it and we didn't deserve anything other than a draw.
Thankfully, Sheff U stumbled and we're still as we were. A good win at Swansea and put the pressure on Sheff U in what is an important match for both sides of Sheffield on Sunday.

Never a red but does anybody really think the way the refs club works that the powers that be will go against him and overturn it?

I'd say there's more chance of Tresor starting at centre half on Saturday than that happening...

appeals go to a panel with some ex pro's on it I think. I doubt you'll find anyone who's played the game thinking that it was worthy of a red

if you don't know about Gavin Ward and his well earned reputation then you probably don't watch many games other than ours. He regularly gets supporters singing "Gavin Ward it's all about you" sung to him

So a yellow card challenge half a second after the final whistle is a red card? They make the rules up as they go along. Clearly CJ didn‘t hear the whistle. It is a yellow card trip. See it every game all the time. A trip to stop an attack. Yellow card. I have no idea what the rules are anymore. It changes literally from second to second. The inconsistently in decision is astounding.

I'd agree but is it a red when a player puts his head gently into another player's but they're given. ER has gone after him and kicked/tripped him..it was an act of frustration from a young man who's been fabulous, but I think it will stand..

I thought he tripped him due to being clear on goal but too far out for a red, not hearing the whistle. The whistle had gone so red card cannot be given if not violent.

At least, that’s what I would put in the appeal 8-)

The player was clean through, which would be a red coz he's gonna eventually deny a goalscoring opportunity. Regardless if he heard the final whistle or not he went after him to stop him, and that's probably what's done it to him.

Personally felt it was a red card. The narrative around what is considered violent conduct is below:

"Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made."

There's two ways to view this imo, either he made a cynical tackle/didn’t know the whistle had gone, or its a young lad who has lost control and is "kicking out". If you look at his reaction as soon as he does it then I think it's the second.

For me that would constitute using excessive force when not challenging for the ball which is a red card according to the rules. Appreciate some may disagree.

Esteve's knock on the head surely won't keep him out but Foster just might miss the next nine games. If he does we might just make it over the line.

its going to be a hard pill to swallow if we end up with baggies in play off and lose out.
20 points ahead almost, but that wasnt evident tonight.
back in 09, we finished 5th to sheff utd's 3rd and came out on top, but the gulf in points wasnt anything like as bad.

Yeah, looking at it again there was another player there. But I think Boyanno has highlighted it well - CJER certainly goes looking to cause harm and that's why it's a red. And his reaction afterwards kind of says that, too.

Surprised that nobody has mentioned Swift moving the free kick back two yards so effectively making it a 12 yard wall. Of course the ref didn’t spot it. Even birdie saw it before he scored
