last night was our chance to make a statement but we fell short again, a team going for automatic promotion should be going for it , not saying we played badly we didn't but they had done there homework on us , and the substitutions again had little effect maybe because we bring them on to late . We are almost guaranteed the play offs so let's have a proper go and see and please Scott try two up front...

West Brom have drawn 0-0 at Sunderland, 1-1 at Leeds, Sheff United and Burnley - in this league and with a manager as good as Mowbray they are a really good side.
Plenty of twists and turns to come, nobody really saw Leeds dropping points at Pompey

And Sheff U conceded at the end. We lost no ground on them.

24 games unbeaten is a pretty strong statement…

Last night wasn't our chance. On paper it was the 2nd hardest game we have left this season. It was a game to get through without losing ground. At full time it looked like Sheff U were going to pull ahead of us, but they didn't. We have to take the positives. It's another game gone and we're still in the position of knowing that by matching Sheff U week by week, then beating them at the Turf, we will get automatic promotion.

3rd v 6th, didn’t lose. Sheff United played 7th and we got the same points as them. Plenty of time to go yet.

Frustrating but still plenty of games to go, as others have said that was one of our most difficult ones out the way without losing ground on Sheff U. Who knows, maybe Millwall will do us a favour.

It was Sheffield’s chance - an easier fixture, leading into injury time, then concede an offside goal.
They weren’t at their best yet again.
I would have taken parity with Sunderland and WBA yesterday before the game, WBA up their game against the top sides and haven’t lost to any of us.
I’m frustrated Parker didn’t “go for it” with sub choices or tactics. But the outcome itself I’m content with.

After the Millwall defeat we were
2 Points behind Sheffield Utd
3 Points behind Leeds.
24 unbeaten games later and the gap to Sheffield remains, the gap to Leeds could widen tonight.
At what point are we going to take our chances?

All I can say is I hope our team don't have the same mentality as some of the fan base.
Guaranteed playoffs your having a laugh. Beat Sheff and it's in our hands.

We've been on a 24 game unbeaten run and have 2 points per game, we've hardly not been taking our chances. If we end up finishing outside of the top 2 but still make 92 points then we will just have to accept that Sheff and Leeds have had remarkable seasons.

By far the worst thing about last night was the sending off. That's going to hurt far, far more than the 2 dropped points.

Felt like that at FT but when you analise this, it is the Championship, and we have made a pretty amazing statement in the last 8 games where I believe we have 6 wins and 2 draws. My Leeds friend told me just before our game last night that WBA looked good against his team recently (1-1result). This is going to go to the wire with a few twists and turns yet to come so some of the doubters on here need to strap themselves in and ensure their air bags are on

Has there been a decision yet on appealing CJ's dismissal? And if so, when would the outcome be known? Otherwise, presumably a 3-match suspension.

Are we in a scenario where an appeal could conceivably result in a longer suspension?

I am unsure of current rules, but my understanding is that suspensions can be, and have been, lengthened if it is viewed that the appeal is trivial (ie, essentially wasting the disciplinary committee's time). Not sure how things work now and haven't had a chance to review the actual rules. One assumes the club is weighing all that up (bold assumption?)

Which makes it a very tough call tbf. It's difficult to tell from the fleeting replays exactly what CJER did and on Tuesday evening at the Turf I was actually looking the other way at the time. Assuming it would be 3 games as it stands which could be pretty much terminal to our hopes of a top two finish imo, a perceived frivolous appeal and an extra game (or two) would just about finish me off.

Now I’ve calmed down I think we have to accept the sending off and CJ has to sit out 3 games. It won’t get overturned. My concern is who his replacement will be. I’ve never rated Worral since day one, in fact Im not sure he was a Parker purchase, far too slow, I’d have preferred Ekdal alongside Esteve but that’s not going to happen. That’s my concern at the moment.

The word they use is 'frivolous' - which makes it sound like the appellants appear in fancy dress.

We’ve had several chances to go top, to put down a marker and haven’t. Had we been another team say Derby for arguments sake, they’d be plenty calling them bottlers, do they even want to get promoted.
We’ve lost ground on Leeds during a 24 game unbeaten run. That says quite a lot about SP and his negative mindset.

We played well first half after we equalised.
Second half was disappointing, but it was still a decent game and either team could have won it. WBA’s record against the top sides speaks for itself.
Still 27 points to play for. Cut the negativity and get behind the lads.

We've put down a marker, we've gone 24 games unbeaten and we're on 2 points per game.
If you want to pretend that before the start of the season you wouldn't have wet yourself with excitement at finishing with 92 points, the best defence in history at this level, at least 24 games unbeaten- then you'd be downright fibbing.
But now apparently we're bottlers because we haven't won a couple more games and aren't projected to finish with 100 points plus?
Talk about negative mindsets.

I've been more dull than usual and had a go at predicting the results for the top 3 from our Luton game onwards.
I'd put us down for a draw against WBA and Sheff U beating Bristol City, so, from my perspective, whilst I'm a tad disappointed with only a draw against the Baggies I also feel like we've almost gained 2 points on Sheff U. (A slightly bizarre way of looking at things, I get).
I always had us down to beat Sheff U and that still remains the key game, however, if we beat Swansea at the weekend and Sheff U don't beat their city rivals (which I think is reasonably likely), we'll be above them and the world will look a brighter place.

In the last week Leeds lost at Pompey. Blades, Sunderland and us all drew winnable home games. There will be a lot more strange results yet. None of the 4 will go undefeated to season end.
Fingers crossed we come out on the right side.

Well, today we took a chance to get back to within 2 points of the leaders. Leeds will stay top unless Sheff Utd win by almost 30 against Wednesday and the Blades have to win to go above us due to or massively superior goal difference.
8 more 'last chances' left this season

With hindsight it looks that way. With beyer unlikely to ever play again and Bashir injured it leaves us with Worrell who worries me a bit after watching the Preston game.
