Brilliant, no point having an appeal process unless appeals this can succeed, unlike a lot of posters on here who said no chance of winning, what do they know.

Rightly so.

Also saw that Joao Pedro at Hull had his appeal upheld. Fancy putting in an appeal for that challenge.

100%

Never a red card
But never did I think it would be overturned

So important to keep CJER and Esteve for the run in

has Mr Parkers card also been rescinded? Given his card was a reaction to the now rescinded card..? ;)

Any appeal for Scott Parker's will be later which means he will be on the touchline at Swansea. However, he was red carded for speaking to the referee which apparently he is not allowed to do so not sure he'd succeed in an appeal.

Weird one that. I thought managers spoke to officials after virtually every game.

As for the ref, has he purposely been stood down this weekend?

Not even after the final whistle?

Sounds bizarre.

Parker says he wasn’t abusive or aggressive towards the referee. He says he was calm and measured.

If that’s true, imagine being such an arsehole that you’d apply the absolute letter of the law and send off a manager for simply trying to have a conversation about a decision with you.

Great news for us but I bet if it was a small club like Oxford, Plymouth or Blackburn it would never have been overturned.

You see managers trying and to speak to referees at half-time and full time on a regular basis. You rarely see a red card.

1. They do as far as I can see but they are not allowed to approach them on the pitch.

2. Appointments announced on Monday so no is the answer to that.

I saw the red card shown at the end but not the incident that brought it about. When I did see it later I was stunned, no way should that have been red.

I'd be a rich man if I had a quid for the number of times I've seen a manager approach a ref on the pitch.

Should never have been a red, but like others surprised they had the courage to admit the error.

I think the wording in the laws of the game are that managers aren’t allowed to ‘confront’ the referee on the pitch. I guess one man’s conversation is another man’s confrontation. Although given Ward has seen a trip as violent conduct I’m minded to believe Parker’s version of events.

I actually assumed Parker was more incensed about the possible handball/penalty right at death, although tbf I didn't see it. The players and the crowd in the JM were absolutely incandescent, but yet it's not been mentioned on here (I don't think) and it's not on the highlights.

Depends what he's said
He looked very calm
Certainly wasn't a physical confrontation
I certainly wouldn't assume Parker has done anything wrong based purely on the fact Ward gave him a Red card

So at the end of that little contretemps, CJ gets no punishment and the WBA player gets a yellow? That’s about right!

Absolutely not.
Rescinding the card is the correct call, but what CJ did was absolutely stupid and with a referee like Ward who hands out red cards like confetti it was asking for trouble.

Apparently Parker asked the ref if being a ba***rd resulted from an accident of birth or was he a self-made man?
Maybe the ref is being stood down this weekend to see how things go and if it's a success he can be nailed down.
In all seriousness there are errors refs make all the time and we have to get on with it, but his failure over that free kick, not securing the ball, no spray, not apparently noting where the offence occurred and ensuring the FK was taken from the place of the offence were such basic errors he deserves the purple card aka P45.

I seriously can't believe that Parker would be abusive to anyone. That little sh!t Ward should have his whistle removed with immediate effect.

I’m the only one on here but I saw a nailed on red card. The Baggie had played it forward, ball had gone, and he hacked at him.
Not disappointed mind I don’t want E-R & E-Steve broken up.

Fantastic news

- wonder if this leads to a performance review of some kind for Gavin Ward?

Probably wishful thinking but he is an absolute disgrace. 1 yellow card in a game with 27 fouls then 2 sending offs at full time so Gavin Ward can stamp his seal on the game.

I think we shouldn't know referees' names or consider them personalities at all. They should take far more of a back seat than they currently do.

You may not like American Football, but the level of officiating is light years ahead of association football in England. Genuinely think we could learn a lot from that sport.

I don't think that that can be described as a "hack". It was a fairly innocuous trip and had no impact on the game as it was full-time.
It was probably a yellow but I don't see that as a red anywhere on the pitch even if the game was "active"

Can you give a yellow after the final whistle?

I don't think I've ever seen it. A fair few reds over the years.

He isn't being stood down - the appointments are announced on the Monday over a day before this game. He just hasn't been allocated a game this week.
