Just at our caravan in the lakes and had a trip over to Glenridding today. The journey always includes a drive over Kirkstone Pass. I absolutely love that journey, if there is a more beautiful road in the country I have yet to travel it.
Just wondered what other people’s favourite roads/journeys are.

FFS.

The A82 from Glasgow to Fort William, and then the A87 to the North end of Skye. Amazing scenery.

If I'm going to Edinburgh I always go the A68 from Barton, far nicer than the A1.

Ewood Park to Burnley after winning the League.

The A169 Pickering over the North Yorkshire moors to Whitby is a nice drive in good weather

Gravel

Inverness to Inverewe (Achnasheen) via Gairloch

Jasper to Banff




Least favourite: Leeds Inner Ring Road

Any roads into Yorkshire from Lancashire are beautiful.

Chapmans Peak drive from Hout Bay near Cape Town takes some beating for me first time for me last week, breathtaking views.

The A635 dropping down into Greenfields is a spectacular bit of road. Especially good on a bike.

Cairns to Port Douglas and onto cape tribulation in North Queensland. Stunning part of the world

Hardknot pass is a belter over Eskdale to Ravenglass on the coast

From Naples in Florida through the Keys and down to
Key West, amazing sea views.

In no particular order, Rawtenstall to Burnley with no Roadworks.
A couples drive I use for parking on in Barley, while out for a Sunday Walk.
The Ring of Kerry in Ireland.....Wild, yet beautiful scenery.
The Pacific Highway, California. A great drive me and Mrs Aclaret once did from Huntington Beach down to San Diego.

I've probs done it 50 times now Boss...the drives fine until you get behind a muppet looking at the view too much. 2 years back I did it in a long wheel base citroen relay (camper) ...now that was stupid...damn near shat myself.

I've never forgiven it!

The Antrim coastal rd is stunning in Northern Ireland

The corniche from Nice up to Monaco.

Have to say the ring of Kerry takes some beating

Been over it loads of times since but as an 18 yr old folling apair of old gimmers in a VW Camper van that kept bloody stopping on the steep bits ... it was scary

Drove from Bergen to Trondheim on a 10 day break in Norway - including the Trollstigen and the Wild Atlantic Way - which would take all the beating. We are doing a 10 day tour of Switzerland this year so I'm hopeful it will be as good or maybe even better than Norway.

So I've heard, but having driven it three times over the last 40 years, I can't confirm it; every time it's been low cloud/fog and we've barely caught a glimpse of the ocean

I wouldn't say it's my favourite drive but it's one I will always remember.
Driving from Switzerland to Italy over the Furka pass, certainly not for the faint hearted but a memorable experience.

I was staying in Varenna on Lake Como and took a hire car up the head of the lake to St Moritz.

That's a pretty spectacular view.

I did that with my ex and the kids in 1984. Had a fantastic hot chocolate in a cafe near the top.

When I was a van driver around Europe, I loved crossing the Alps/Tyrol using the Fernpass (Austria route 179/E532) and the Brenner pass (A13/A22/E45), can be challenging in winter on the 1st part though they do seem to clear it remarkedly quickly.

Sorry to hear that AFC, we did it whilst staying in Huntington Beach with relatives. It was in the month of January if that makes any difference and the weather was very nice.

Any over 240yds and on the fairway .

Any route through the Trough of Bowland upto Scorton or Lancaster/Morcambe is always a pleasure at any time of year

I love the Fernpass. My Mum used to caravan in Lermoos when she lived in Germany. The Tyrol is something special.

I climbed the Grubigstein with my wife, and watched hikers coming out of the clouds across "Der Gartner", I've done Striding Edge and Sharp Edge, but The Garden Wall look frightening.

First did the Fernpass/Innsbŕùck/ Brenner in 1981 and done it scores of times since. (Lifelong family in the Allgäu so quickest route to Gardasee & wider on into Italy.)
Spectacular in places but often just a two-lane motorway full of lorries.
Fernpass now a toll road and the Brenner tunnel too, shortly.
Not my favourite drive but if you want to get to Gardasee/Toscana/Orvieto/Roma from southern Germany, it's the logical route.
PS - always full of Dutch with their caravans/trailers/campervans, can be a right pain in the butt.

Ain't done the Long Causeway for a while but that was always my favourite coming over the tops down into Burnley

That view as you come past the Waggoners and see Pendle in all it's glory takes some beating. Always makes me smile and feel like home when I see it.

The drive through Glencoe is stunning.

A perfectly timed cover drive when all the fielders can do is watch.

Agree CG, You have Pendle Hill and the 3 Peaks in the distance on a clear day. Great View.

Applecross in the highlands the mountain road called Baelach Na Ba is both stunning and scary. To be honest the grane road on a sunny day also takes some beating.
