Spot the Ref

There was a time when a referee would always wear black but they have so many colours now it ensures they don't clash in any way with the two team kits.

The pic below is from the first half of last night's U21 game.

Game should not have started until officials changed kit

But the referee is the one in charge. Someone must have told them at half time because they came out in all black for the second half. Fleetwood did have black markings on their shirts, almost stripes at the front, but it was downright ridiculous that they wore yellow for the first half.

Unfortunately his guide dog couldn’t help him with this decision

I think its the one second nearest person on the photo. Looks older and not as fit as the other three and also doesnt have a number on the back of his shirt so Im pretty confident thats the ref.

Not an issue from the front as CT says but that ridiculous from behind. The officials should have spotted that from the start

Obviously shirts should be different colours, as well as socks - although there have been times I’ve struggled to differentiate between our pale blue ones and the opposition in white ones, especially when both teams are in white shorts, which should also be different colours imo

I'm sure all the Fleetwood players stopped to make a quick check before making a pass.

The clown could at least have worn a bib or something the subs use until half time until an alternative shirt was found..

Ran a team that played in black and white stripes, back of shirt was black.

Refs knew we played in black and white yet always turned up in all black, don’t know how true however got told that refs were supposed to turn up with 2 different colour shirts.

The Laws of the game state that it is the responsibility of the team players not to clash with the referee. Easy when referees all wore black.

As ridiculous as that sounds, this is what it states law 4 section 3.

"The two teams must wear colours that distinguish them from each other and the match officials". So it was the Fleetwood team that should have changed.

I reckon the referee simply looked at the front of the shirts not realising the back of the shirt was plain yellow. Embarrassing situation but should have been sorted long before kick off.

It was the creation of the Premier League that saw football officials taking to the pitch looking more like Showaddywaddy.

They look ridiculous at the best of times.

Typical what is wrong with football today, the rules are one thing, but common sense,is long gone, ask the refs we have had this season, some of the decisions are baffling !
