Whether it drives sales will be getting analysed thoroughly.

In the meantime, here's a thread on the subject of KFC so it appears to have done what it set out to do in terms of making itself noticeable and memorable.

People don't think what they feel, don't say what they think and don't do what they say.

The best thing about having a Freesat PVR box is that you can pause and then fast-forward to what you are actually trying to watch.

I’d rather they just concentrate on making the chicken like they used to… last time I had it, albeit about 18 months ago, it was bland, and the gravy’s gone the same way too.

If it's on TV, what the **** are you doing still watching "tv"?

When I saw it first it immediately reminded me of a weird film I saw called "Soylent Green." It was a futuristic movie released in 1973 of a world where the authorities offered euthanasia to the masses and used the bodies to make protein (Called Soylent green) to feed to the remaining masses. I recall one scene where the masses were chanting "Soylent Green is people" unaware of its origins. I now think that KFC is people! I don't frequent their establishments so am not too worried about what goes into their buckets.

Usually my go to hangover meal if I'm on a lads trip but I generally avoid fast food shite if I'm of a sound mind

Years ago, our mum and dad would call off at the KFC at Samlesbury while we were heading back home after a day out on the coast. It was a massive treat back then in the mid-to-late 1970s. Afterwards, they would complain about it being a rip-off for the rest of the journey.

I've not had a KFC for a good few years. These days, I find it way too greasy for my taste, and this includes their skinless chicken. Fried food is rank if it's not been given time to drain before boxed/wrapped up.

Smacks of "new ad agency throwing out leftfield curveballs, look how cool and edgy we are"

As other have said. It gets people talking.

But has it made me want to go and get a KFC? Absolutely not, which is the endgame for them surely?

Just looks a massive waste of money if you ask me.

I don't think it's aimed at my age group but it has a fairly obvious meaning, which is that in a post truth world you can't believe in anything but Chicken.

I find a lot of adverts now tend to be more about the brand than the product, which is odd when you come from a generation that is used to housewives washing their whites whiter than white holding a pack of the stuff that does the job.

It's kind of hamfisted and does nothing for the product but if their target audience is 20 something Uni grad Social Science students then it might work.

If only we could go back to the days when adverts on TV were a form of high art. Like the Shake n Vac one or the R Whites lemonade one or the nuts whole hazelnut one.
Young people in advertising today, a good spell in national service would sort them out.

Nah. National Service and possible war is too damn good for 'em! Oh for the days of putting a Chrysler Sunbeam in your life, one Cornetto, and the red car and the blue car had a race. Pure art, I tell thee, pure art.

Big fan of kfc, however have had many bad experiences in different outlets. Still only a visit once a month/ every 2 months.

Have our usual KFC place which is always good. Not sure why they're so different when have same suppliers/ recipes.

Might be a little weird advert, but aren't many ads weird now? Jaguar? Anything perfume related

There was an academic called David Graeber whose theoretical proposition was that as the workforce has become more automated the world replaces real jobs with what he referred to as Bullsh*t jobs.

So, instead of having Human Beings making stuff we now have machines making it and human beings making stuff up.

So, you have HR Departments full of people inventing surveys that ask you what you think of the company with the implicit threat that if you actually tell he truth you will be in trouble or WellBeing departments that basically ministrate to bullsh*t departments because they are the only ones who are pointless enough to be allowed to take time off.

So, the pointless stay put and fill in surveys and the purposeless leave and then come back again because all companies have surveys and bullsh*t departments full of bullsh*t people wanging off about wellbeing while not really giving a t*ss. And on and on until you have UK PLC with a dog of an economy that can't even grow with a million immigrants coming here to contribute.

And finally, when you run out of things to say about bullsh*t KFC release a new Ad that is bullsh*t personified because absolutely no one wants to rush out and buy a KFC because of the Ad because deep fried food with chips and beans is bullsh*t food.....! So, you have bullsh*t people making bullsh*t about bullsh*t because everything has gone to sh*t.

Of course, I don't think that David Graeber does - I'm just paraphrasing what he said....!

They have dropped both. Now not even Kentucky Fried. Just KFC. Chicken is king.

In the 60's and 70's my aunty lived in a house on the main Preston road at Salmsebury (next door to what at the time was a petrol station) At the time it really was extremely busy as it was the main road from East Lancashire to the Fylde coast and when that KFC was opened just a few hundred yards from her house it was (I believe) only the second one in the country. My aunty got a job working evenings and weekends there and on one famous occasion was actually visited by "The Colonel" himself, over from America, looking extremely old and exactly like he's portrayed in the logo.
As an aside, the guy was never a colonel or indeed in the military, but was a car salesman (amongst other jobs) before retiring and at 66, hard up and bored, started a single fried chicken joint somewhere in the states. The rest is history and at 80 he was a multi millionaire! (Haven't double checked all those facts, but that's the gist of it I believe)
