While being interviewed admitted to being a Burnley Fan Loved going to Turf Moor and watching the likes of Ray Pointer And Jimmy Mcilroy. I watched this last year. My comment is the first one blow the video.

All I remember is his habit of scoring braces against us, whoever he was playing for. If he was a Burnley fan he certainly enjoyed playing against us.

The kind of player you would pay good money to watch no matter your allegiance.
Frank was up there with the likes of George Best for entertainment value.

Not sure that your memory serves you correctly there. I don't recall him scoring against us, but my memory is not what it was either.

We were once linked with signing Frank Worthington and one day I was calling at the club for something and saw him leave and walk to his car thus convincing me he was signing. No idea why he was there but he definitely never signed for us.

FW was one of the great entertainers. His goal for Bolton against Ipswich at Burnden remains one of my favourite goals.

A few tackles in that clip but notice no rolling around squealing looking at the ref, they just got up and got on with it!

Worthington was a real entertainer and as said the goal v Ipswich is so memorable just for the sheer audacity. Great days

We were very fortunate that Granada had chosen that Bolton v Ipswich game for its Sunday highlights programme, otherwise we would probably never have seen it.

Read his book - "One Hump Or Two" - superb! He was a fine after dinner speaker; saw him at Rishton CC. He used to go to Tod Baths with his grandaughter. I was at reception once when he walked in - he had great presence . The mature receptionist looked up and said "I feel excited just looking at him". He smiled modestly and nodded to us.

He was sat in the pub with us in Halifax prior to a cup game against West Brom. He said 'Got to go go lads, I'm on telly' and about ten minutes later he appeared onscreen as a Sky pundit.

He was wearing a cloak and wide-brimmed hat at the time, he looked like The Witchfinder General.

Haha. Toughest opponent he ever faced, when asked in an interview - ex wife. Great character Frank and a very good footballer.

Anytime I went to Pontefract races, Frank would be there at the paddock, complete with leather cowboy hat.

Saw him play a few times... even in the later years of his career he was still fantastic. Lasting memory though was of him sitting on Main Street in Haworth. Definitely a larger-than-life character. Almost had a Half-Man Half-Biscuit moment... "F*&^%ing hell it's Frank Worthington"

Ralph Coates goal given offside, despite the keeper punching it clear at least 4 yards outside the penalty area .... laughable !

I'm sure he scored two against us for Leeds at Elland Road in 1982-83. I was there. Drove up to Leeds from Wrinehill in Staffordshire with none other than Dave Burnley who lived a couple of miles from me in Madeley.

Just checked - he scored one in that game, but I can't find any record of him scoring any other goals against us for his other clubs.
(Butterworth and Kevin Hird were the other scorers for Leeds on that day)

I knew Hirdy had scored in that game but I would never have come up with Frank Worthington.
