Seperate thread for the bottling yorkshiremen

They NEEDED a win today - couple of what i'd say tough games for them coming up - winable but tough
Luton might just give them a game

If Leeds were to lose their next game they'll do well to recover.

Like in any sport, once you get into a tailspin it's very hard to correct the situation.

And with Luton away in the early kick off next week at a very compact ground it's a true test of their promotion credentials.

There is that.

But I reckon if they get about Leeds, they could do us a big favour. Definitely the kind of team a downbeat Leeds won't want to face.

Leeds have to go to Boro who are second in the form table. That one won't be easy.

There must be a lot of uncertainty in that Leeds back line, they must be waiting for a mistake and that will inevitably lead to mistakes. We have to keep winning to heap the pressure on them and Sheff Utd - the title is up for grabs not just promotion imho

As much as it's great to see Leeds falter, again, it's a question of who has the gajones for it.
You can't always rely on others, we have to concentrate on ourselves and forget everything else, in which I agree completely with Parker. He does have a very calming effect on the team, no added pressures from him, it could be the difference come the end of the season.

Long way to go yet. If they smash a few past Luton, which they should, tails will be up again and they’ll go in a run.

I’m just glad they’ve conceded a 7pt lead and the run in is all to play for.

As Parker keeps saying, we just need to look after ourselves and forget what Leeds and Sheffield are doing.

It’s a no lose situation for us now. His confidence must be in his boots but I don’t think their reserve keeper is much better either, so if Farke does drop him its both a sign to all his players that he thinks they’re bottling it and a new back line that may or may not work out.

We're just starting to peak at the right time, same with Sheff Utd
Leeds are just starting to tail off, which wouldn't be an issue if they didn't have 2 clubs sat right on top of them

Leeds fans I know are a little nervous

When we got knocked out of the cup against Preston we were 10 points behind Leeds on 1st March!

It must be difficult for a team to hold it together when they have a keeper like Meslier behind them. The whole place from the pitch to the stands must collectively **** itself whenever the ball goes near him.

Truly astonishing that they haven’t replaced him by now.

Must be the biggest bottle jobs of any club in the 92. For the size of club they are they have a very poor record generally apart from thirty odd years of their history.

I watched some of the Leeds fan Connor on YouTube and he makes a point about pressure. He said he watched all the pre match interviews and Parker and Wilder kept using words like 'enjoy' and 'calm' that takes the pressure off the players, whereas Farke seemed to put the pressure on the players with what he says. He might have a point with the psychological impact on the players as us and Sheff Utd seem to be playing with a lot more freedom than Leeds. He has also said in the post match interview that Leeds will be in the Premier League next season. More pressure on the players before they go to Luton and Boro :) .

Leeds’s biggest issue, as I see it, is their fans. No doubting that when behind their team, they are a proper twelfth man. As good as they undoubtedly can be, when it comes to those tight games where things aren’t going their way, the can be the opposite.

Pressure mounts as the number of games dwindles. Something we need to keep in our minds when games might not be going as anticipated.

Middlesborough away sandwich in between two, 12.30 KO. Leeds are notoriously poor in early kick offs. Just 2 wins in their last 12.

My mate (DL ST holder) says that if they don't score within 10 minutes of the start at Elland Road, the moans and groans start. And it just builds and builds.

He said they probably wouldn't have a problem if they could play all their remaining games away.

Remember all. This weekend was a good one, but I'm sure there will be bad weekends of us where it goes the other way. It's important to stay calm. But as it stands I really feel that if we beat the Blades on bank holiday Monday, we will win the league.

Long way to go yet, but it feels like Leeds are creaking on the edge, whilst we are playing calm collected football. Sure it can all change in the next few weeks, but the signs are good.

What yesterday showed, was that there are NO easy games at this stage of the season.

Was having some buffering on my stream of our game yesterday so had to stick it on the tablet. I had Leeds on the telly and Swansea looked to rattle them. They attacked with pace down either flank and really had Leeds in trouble at times.
Leeds seem to throw so many men forward every time who don't have the desire to get back, so it only takes a team to be brave and go at them after possession turnover.

That, and having Meslier in goal gives every team a chance of picking something up!

That's true Ric. But your point about calmness is a good one. We rarely look flustered at all - i think Leeds were similar but recently are starting to flake a bit. Sheffield always look like they're playing on the edge a bit

That calmness will be a crucial edge for us (both for the run in and for - if we end up there - the playoffs)

Swansea have been playing the high press game, major possession game, for years. They benefited from getting in Leeds face, when too many teams would be happy to sit back and contain them, and get punished for their money.
Hopefully Luton and Boro will both be up for it for different reasons. Which is why it's best to focus on us.

On a positive, Conor on the Leeds vlog was saying Farke came with this reputation of not being willing to admit he's wrong, and in the face of all the evidence will go the extra mile, just to try and prove himself right. To come out publicly and say Leeds are 100% playing in the Prem next season is ridiculous, and only increases the pressure on his side.

Although near the end of the season there is still a long way to go with 7 games where we know some top teams can start to tank. Leeds have had a blip and we will have to wait and see if they recover and we stay on form. Coventry and Derby next could be dodgy.
It does seem that the number of points needed for second place could beat the 96 of a few seasons ago.Since 2000 only 3 occasions when second place had over 92 points.
